On Monday, Kansas City Chiefs DE Emmanuel Ogbah was lost for the season to a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered in the team’s Week 10 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
On Tuesday, that injury, along with a few others along the defensive front, prompted Kansas City to host DE Eric Lee for a visit, as first reported by the Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.
The 25-year-old originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of South Florida. Lee first signed with the Houston Texans in May 2016 before being released just prior to the 2017 regular season. He next caught on with the Buffalo Bills where he spent time between the team’s active roster and practice squad where Lee was later claimed to the New England Patriots’ roster.

Lee’s most prominent NFL action came in New England where he started 5-of-6 regular season games in 2017. The 6’3,” 295-pound defensive end racked up 19 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, two pass deflections, and one interception. In addition, Lee played in all three postseason games (with one start) during the Patriots’ Super Bowl run. The fourth-year hybrid edge defender was cut by New England ahead of the following regular season.
Most recently, Lee played in nine games with the Detroit Lions over the past two seasons. He was let go from the Lions’ practice squad on October 9.
Frank Clark Admits to Playing Through Serious Injury
Besides trying to overcome the season-ending injury to DE Emmanuel Ogbah, the Chiefs have been managing the health of their top offseason acquisitions, Frank Clark. Following the shocking loss to the Titans on Sunday, the 26-year-old defensive end opened up about the neck injury that kept him out of action in Weeks 8 and 9.
According to Clark, the injury has been affecting his play since training camp.
“I’ve been playing kind of timid this whole season,” said Clark. “That’s why I’ve been kind of slow. I’ve had a pinched nerve since the end of training camp. I’ve been playing through it. It just got to the point where [it] was so serious it was sending burning sensations down my arm. My two fingers were going numb. I had to take precautions, get checked out and make sure everything that I was doing football-wise wasn’t going to affect my life after football.”
Clark was acquired by Kansas City in April (along with a 2019 3rd round draft pick) in exchange for a 2019 1st round pick, 3rd round pick, and a conditional 2020 pick (2nd round) from the Seattle Seahawks. The 6’3,” 260-pound edge rusher dealt with a wrist injury during the offseason, but a neck injury wasn’t officially reported until Week 2 this season.
During his Monday conference call with media, Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid reiterated that Clark’s injury isn’t of the long-term variety.
