Mike Tyson talked more about fighting Conor McGregor this week during the returning boxing champ’s recent appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show”. Tyson already revealed last week that he thinks he could knock out the UFC superstar in a fight under boxing rules, but the 54-year-old former heavyweight champion talked more about the hypothetical Tyson vs. McGregor matchup in the clip below.
Mike Tyson on UFC’s Octagon: ‘I Don’t Think I Want to Do That’
Patrick asked, “I heard that you said that you could knock out Conor McGregor in the ring, but would you get in the Octagon with Conor McGregor?”
Tyson said, “I don’t think I want to do that. And not because Conor might kick my ass, just the fact that Conor has the right to step on my feet, and if anybody steps on my feet I’m tapping out.”
Patrick asked, “Wait, so that’s the secret to beating you? Stepping on your toes?”
Tyson said, “But if he steps on my feet when we step out of the ring it’s gonna be a problem.”
McGregor saw the clip on Twitter and liked the post.
That means in the unlikely event that the world’s biggest MMA superstar ever finds himself in a fight against Tyson, he’ll know exactly what move to make first.
Mike Tyson’s Previous Comments About Conor McGregor
Last week, Tyson predicted how he thought he would fare against McGregor if the two popular icons ever fought each other in a massive superfight.
Tyson made his stunning prediction for the potential megafight on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”.
Fallon asked, “How about this one? It actually could happen.”
The host then revealed a photoshopped picture of Tyson fighting McGregor.
“Wow! Look at that,” Tyson said.
“That dude’s nuts,” Fallon said.
“Yeah, but I’m going to kick his ass anyway!” Tyson predicted.
But Tyson was assuming Fallon was asking him about a straight rules boxing match against McGregor.
“But he doesn’t play by the rules,” Fallon reminded Tyson. “He does…MMA and stuff. You’re a boxer.”
“Hey, we’re going to play by boxing rules,” Tyson replied.
Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. on September 12
The Tyson vs. Jones Jr. boxing pay-per-view card is scheduled for September 12 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
The action is set to begin at 9 p.m ET.
Fans can watch the fight live via pay-per-view through cable, satellite, and Triller.
In addition to the main event featuring Tyson vs. Jones Jr., there will be other fights that night.
The first fight that was announced for the Tyson vs. Jones Jr. undercard was a surreal grudge match between YouTuber Jake Paul and former NBA star Nate Robinson.
Paul is 1-0 as a professional boxer. He’s been boxing for over two years now.
Meanwhile, Robinson is hoping his superb athleticism and friendships with notable boxing champions will help him play catchup before the fight.
More fights for the Tyson vs. Jones Jr. PPV card will be announced during the coming weeks.
