Yeah, it’s a little bit pricy, but then all the best Lego sets are, and because of the replayability in this one, the value’s there.

The Franklin Sports Portable Basketball Hoop is a free-standing hoop set. That means you don’t need to worry about ruining your yard by drilling into the concrete to keep this in place. Just fill it with sand and shouldn’t move unless you want it to.
For shooting and layups, this basketball hoop is ideal. I wouldn’t’ recommend dunks, but then I wouldn’t recommend dunks in general anyway so it’s all good.

This is a video game console designed with kids in mind.
The majority of Nintendo-made games are all aimed at kids, meaning you don’t need to worry about gory violence or themes not suitable for their age.
The brilliant hook of this console is it can be played either on the TV or as a handheld tablet.
The controllers slide off the side of the console for TV play, then when kids want to sit in bed and play, easily reattach the controllers to the side of the console and they’re good to game on the go.
It really is the only console out at the moment that, as I say, is designed specifically for kids.
You will absolutely never go wrong with Nerf. Kids love being able to run around the house or yard blasting baddies.
The Nerf Fortnite TS-R Blaster comes with a selection of llama targets you can stand up and blast down. They’re different sizes, too, so kids will need to get their aim perfected to knock out each size.
It’s also worth noting this is a Fortnite blaster. Given Fortnite is currently the biggest game on the face of the planet, it’s no surprise kids are wanting Fortnite merch.
This blaster also comes with eight official Nerf mega darts and as it’s a lock-and-load type of blaster, you don’t need to worry about batteries. Woo!

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are the best games on Nintendo Switch.
But don’t just take my word for it, IGN even went as far as giving these games a 9.3 out of 10. That’s how great they are!
Kids are going to love the new features that come with these versions. Being able to explore open areas and watch as Pokemon actually run around in the wild (rather than only appearing in battles like in the older games) is magical.
In terms of what kids do in Pokemon Sword and Shield, it’s a game about exploring a massive, gorgeous world as they collect different Pokemon. Then, with their favorites in tow, players battle the gym leaders of different towns before finally attempting to best the Pokemon League and become the greatest Pokemon trainer in the region.
In terms of time, Pokemon Sword is looking to take me around 20 hours to finish, but the game doesn’t stop when the credits roll. Going with the last main Pokemon game (Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon) for reference, I ended up spending around 150 hours to see everything the game has to offer. So in terms of value for money, you really can’t beat the Pokemon games.
As for the differences between Pokemon Sword and Shield, there aren’t that many. Both games offer the same experience and gameplay, it’s just there’s a handful of exclusive Pokemon and gym leaders in each version.
While you can buy the dual pack which comes with both games, you’re better off just picking up the one copy (unless you’re buying for siblings, then definitely get the dual pack so they can trade Pokemon with one another). Sword is currently outselling Shield, too, so if you’re unsure which version to pick up, Sword is the safest bet.
Basically, how it all works is you’re buying a code for the Nintendo Switch’s online store.
You buy the game you want in digital format (as opposed to a physical disc-based version), Amazon will send you the code, then it’s just a case of loading up the Nintendo Switch, head into the eshop – the little shopping icon on the home screen – then select ‘redeem code’.
Enter the code and that’s it. The game you purchased will then be added to your downloads and it’s just a case of waiting.
Due to the fact the speed at which the game downloads is dependent on your Internet connection, I’d suggest using the code the night before so the Switch can download it overnight so it’s ready for the morning the child receives it.
It’s a fast and painless procedure. The only thing to keep in mind is each game has its own different storage size (in gigabytes).
The Switch comes with 32GB of storage, so if you don’t have enough space for the new game, or the new game is larger than 32GB, I’d suggest grabbing a larger micro SD memory card at some point (I’m currently rocking this 256GB memory card and I’m struggling to fill it).
With all that out the way, I’m a big fan of digital games over discs – or ‘carts’ in the case of the Switch. Not having to fiddle around with little cartridges that can get lost is great. Plus I’m really lazy and hate having to get up when I’m trying to relax.
Not only that, the instant delivery of the download codes means you don’t have to worry about the gift arriving there in time for the big day. What’s not to love?
Also, if your child is yet to play Animal Crossing New Horizons, seriously get them it. It’s the cutest, most whimsical game out there.
If the Nintendo Switch is out of your price range, the New Nintendo 2DS XL is a still great, more affordable alternative.
This handheld console has an absolutely huge library of games available for it.
The vast majority of games are much cheaper than Switch titles, too.
This console also comes equipped with Mario Kart 7 pre-installed on it, meaning kids have something to play the moment it’s opened.
I’ve owned a 2DS XL (and before that 3DS) for years and it’s a console that still gets a lot of usage, simply because the games on it are so enjoyable.
As with the Switch, this is a Nintendo console, so expect lots of brightly colored games designed with kids in mind.
It comes with seven Roblox characters, each of which can have their heads, legs, and hats yoinked off to switch with other figures. One of the faces looks super derpy so as you can imagine, my kids instantly used that head on each of the different bodies to see which fits best.
But this isn’t just a figure pack, it’s a playset. And from the version I was sent, putting it all together is really easy. Walls slot into other walls and pillars are used to give your museum different angles.
You can stick to the guide, but part of the joy of Roblox is creating your own designs.
I also love that the Pharoh’s headpiece display chamber lights up. It’s a simple element, but it’s the little things that take a set from being good to great.
If you’ve got a child who’s into Roblox, this set is an absolute must.
So much love and care has gone into the design of the figure.
It’s no easy feat, either. Crooked, goat-like legs, the detail on the werewolf head, and then McFarlane Toys went with one of the most complex pickaxes to build with this figure.
Even if your child isn’t familiar with these characters, they’re going to have a lot of fun making them battle.
The Juggernaut in this set is a re-release of the Juggernaut build-a-figure, which required collectors to buy every figure in a wave to build it for themselves.
I’m a big fan of seeing these figures which, technically, cost a few hundred dollars getting re-released in two packs.
This two-pack is a much more affordable option for people who want these excellent figures without having to buy six figures to build them.

These inexpensive figures also make really great gifts for Birthday parties, simply because of how affordable they are.
I was sent some of these a while ago and I was really shocked by how durable they are despite standing at around 2.5-inches.
They’re made from a bendy plastic, meaning they’re less likely to snap should kids get a little rough with them. Cool, right?
Fortnite is HUGE at the moment, so if you’d like to go the route of getting multiple figures for the price of one of the more expensive six-inchers, definitely consider this range.
What the hell is it? Well, it’s basically a statuesque holder.
You can stand video game controllers in it when they’re not in use or while they’re being charged, mobile phones (if they have one), or if you’ve got too many cables trailing around the floor, they’ll hold them too.
They’re a great invention and have solved my problem of ethernet cables running along the floor to my console.
But not only that, I got sent one of the Spyro XL Cable Guys and always use it to hold my Switch Lite when it’s charging. They look really, really cool.
You’ve still got hundreds of little cutesy monsters to collect and you’ll still spend time exploring a colorful world to prove who the best trainer is.
But where this game differs is once you finish the main story, you’re still not done.
Finishing the main story unlocks the chance to collect even more Pokemon!
If you’re after something that’s value for money, in terms of time kids spend playing, this is the one to go with.
If there’s one toy that just oozes coolness, it’s Monster Jam.
Remote-controlled cars are cool. Monster trucks are cool. Add a shark into the design and you’ve got the epitome of cool.
The Monster Jam Megalodon is an all-terrain vehicle. That means it doesn’t matter when you race this juggernaut. Wherever it finds itself, it’ll work. I’ve actually seen this thing soar across water as well. I’m not even sure how that’s possible but it’s incredible to see. How cool does that sound?
Another group of wrestlers who’re massively over with kids is The New Day.
They’re loud, colorful, and throw pancakes! PANCAKES!
As a team, The New Day is beloved by fans of all ages, so if your wrestling-loving child doesn’t already own any of these figures, this three-pack is well worth considering.
