According to a bombshell report from TheDirty.com, Anthony Weiner continued to engage in ill-advised sexual conversations online long after he quit his post in Congress over a sexting scandal.

An anonymous 22-year-old on the other end of his XXX messages tells TheDirty:

The part that’s most annoying is that I was 22 years old and in a bad place, but if anyone asked him he would say the same thing about himself, yet he’s an adult.

According to numerous outlets, Weiner, who is mounting a political comeback in the New York mayoral race, has confirmed some of the messages in question are authentic.

The latest scandal again centers around images of his penis, this time sent under the screen name Carlos Danger.

Images obtained by TheDirty are dated August 2012; Weiner resigned in June 2011.

Here’s Weiner’s official response to the latest scandal, via ABC New York:

I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have. As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress, while some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong. This behavior is behind me. I’ve apologized to Huma and am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and for her forgiveness. I want to again say that I am very sorry to anyone who was on the receiving end of these messages and the disruption that this has caused. As my wife and I have said, we are focused on moving forward.

Here’s a photo of Weiner with his family — wife Huma Abedin, who has stood by his side, and son Jordan — via his Facebook page:

Weiner held an impromptu (read: emergency) early evening press conference to address the new scandal and confirm that he will not withdraw from the mayoral race (photos below). He said he indicated when he launched his campaign that more secrets would be leaked from his past transgressions, and that has come to pass.

Abedin then stepped in the spotlight and remained supportive of her husband. Both spouses indicated that they had chosen to remain committed to their relationship after the initial scandal broke in 2011, with neither acknowledging that Weiner’s public apologies and repentance at that time came several months before the newly revealed X-rated escapades chronicled in TheDirty’s article.
