The producers of British reality show Celebrity Big Brother are coming in for criticism after they broadcast footage of Angie Bowie learning about her late husband. On January 10, while the world mourned the loss of David Bowie, his former wife and mother of his son, Duncan Jones, was oblivious. That’s because she’s competing in the Big Brother house.
After shedding tears at his loss, Bowie, speaking in the show’s diary room, says:
I haven’t seen him for so many years, I can’t make a big drama out of it. I just feel like an era has ended with his passing. I’m so very sad.
In a statement, the show’s producers said that Bowie would remain in the house despite the loss.
Bowie married Angie Bowie on March 19, 1970, in London. Their son, Duncan, was born in 1971. Later, the couple divorced in Switzerland in February 1980.
