Shiny Burmy and all its evolutions join Pokemon GO with the arrival of the Evolution Event.
Here’s what Shiny Burmy, Shiny Wormadam and Shiny Mothim look like in Pokemon GO:
As you can see, all forms of Burmy and Wormadam don’t change much except for their skin getting a blue tint. Mothim, on the other hand has its orange colors replaced with blue.
According to Eurogamer, Burmy comes in three different forms and they can all be found in different locations around the world. Plant Cloack Burmy is found in grassy, green areas, Sandy Cloak Burmy is located in beaches and sandy areas and Trash Cloak Burmy is found in cities, towns and other urban areas. The Pokemon Burmy evolves into depends on gender. Female Burmy will always evolve into Wormadam (with the Wormadam taking on the cloak of the evolved Burmy) and male Burmy will always evolve into Mothim.
For the duration of the Evolution Event (from now until December 12 at 1:00 p.m. PST according to Niantic), you’re more likely to encounter Burmy in the wild along with a number of other Pokemon that evolve in special ways (see the full list here). You’re also more likely to encounter 2 KM Eggs that hatch into Burmy. You can also earn an encounter with Burmy by completing the Evolution Event-exclusive Field Research Task that asks you to evolve 10 Pokemon, according to our other guide on all the Evolution Event Research Tasks. According to research from The Silph Road, you have a 1 in 450 chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon in the wild. You also have a 1 in 60 chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon through a Field Research Task reward.
The event lasts from now until December 12 at 1:00 p.m. PST, according to Niantic. In addition to increasing encounter rates for certain kinds of Pokemon in the wild and Eggs as well as offering exclusive Research Tasks, all Lure Modules, including the Glacial, Magnetic and Mossy Lure Modules used to evolve certain Pokemon, will last for one hour as opposed to a half hour for the duration of the event. You’ll also get twice the XP when evolving Pokemon and find evolution items by completing Raid Battles.
But that’s not all! Niantic is also planning an Evolution Event Raid Day on December 7, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in your local time zone. You’ll fight Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle in one-star Raids; Ivysaur, Charmeleon and Wartortle in two-star Raids; and Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise in four-star Raids. Players can receive up to five Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms during the time period of Raid Day. The Raid Passes will not stay with you after the event is over and you cannot hold more than one Raid Pass at once.
Don’t forget about the Community Day event for December, which will let you encounter Pokemon featured during Community Day events all throughout 2019 and 2018 more frequently in the wild, in Raid Battles and from Eggs.
