Tamar Braxton was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Thursday night, July 16, after she was found unresponsive in her hotel room, according to The Blast.
The Blast reported that the 43-year-old singer and reality star’s boyfriend, David Adefeso, found her “unresponsive” in their room at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in downtown LA.
He called 911 and claimed that Braxton “had been drinking and had taken an unknown amount of prescription pills,” the outlet continued. Sources told The Blast they believe it was a possible suicide attempt. The Blast reported that it obtained a text that Braxton sent family members that sounded like a suicide note. It read, in part, “I am a slave. I do not own my life. My stories. My pictures. My thoughts or beliefs. I’ve asked my massa to free me. I’m threatened and punished for it.” It also said, according to The Blast, “the only way I see out is death.”
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to Heavy that the department received a medical emergency call around 9:45 p.m. at 900 W. Olympic Blvd — which is where the Ritz-Carlton is located.
A media representative said an “individual was transported” from the location to a local hospital.
TMZ reported that the 911 caller indicated “someone at the Ritz Carlton hotel in downtown L.A. attempted suicide.”
When EMTs arrived, they found The Real and Braxton Family Values star unconscious in her room, TMZ continued. Sources told the outlet that Adefeso explained to police that his girlfriend “had been upset earlier in the day and had threatened suicide.”
The Blast reported that a spokesperson for Braxton said, “Tamar has had a very tough and emotional day — more information will be coming in the next few days. Please pray for her.”
Braxton is currently in stable condition but still unconscious, The Blast continued. She is under 24-hour-watch at the hospital.
