Third Victim Dies in San Francisco Plane Crash: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Doctors and Chinese officials said a third victim of the San Francisco plane crash died in the hospital Friday morning. Two 16-year-old girls, Ye Meng Yuan and her classmate Wang Linjia, also died in the tragic accident. Both fell out of the plane as it crashed and one was run over by a fire truck racing to the scene. 1. The Crash Happened Last Weekend

The Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crash landed at San Francisco International Airport last Saturday when it came in too low and too slow for landing. The pilot at the controls was only halfway through his training and it was his first time landing a Boeing 777 plane. It was also the co-pilot’s first time as a flight instructor.

2. The Third Victim is Another Girl

A third victim died at San Francisco General Hospital Friday morning, reports the San Francisco Examiner. According to the Chinese consulate in San Francisco, the victim was also a girl and a Chinese national.

Further information was not immediately released about the girl out of respect for her family, said hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan.

4. More than 180 People Were Injured

More than 180 other people were injured in the tragic crash. Much of the injured were taken to San Francisco General Hospital and to Stanford Hospital & Clinics. Kagan said a Total of 67 people were taken to her hospital

5. San Francisco General Hospital is Still Treating Six Patients

As of Friday, Kagan reported that San Francisco General Hospital was still treating six patients, which included five adults and one child. Two of the adults remain in critical condition with injuries that include spinal cord and abdominal trauma, road rash and bone fractures. The other patients range from serious condition, to fair to good.
