President Donald Trump might be staying off Twitter for the time being, but Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) had no such qualms, taking to the medium to announce that Trump must not interfere with special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s investigation following the indictment of Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.
Schumer further stated that if Trump did interfere with Mueller’s investigation, Congress would have to act swiftly to keep the investigation going.
House minority leader Nancy Pelosi also voiced support for the investigation, releasing a statement demanding that Congress continue to counter Russian aggression.
Top Democratic officials have been muted in their reactions to Manafort’s indictment so far, with only Schumer and Pelosi making any kind of statement on the manner. The White House also has not commented to this point.
