He also threw a two-point conversion to Keon Coleman. The Bills' defense was the true star of the victory, completely shutting down the visitors after Denver scored a TD on its first possession, but Allen put the game away in the second half, connecting with Ty Johnson on a 24-yard score late in the third quarter and with Curtis Samuel on a 55-yard touchdown early in the fourth. After putting together an MVP-caliber regular season, Allen is still firing on all cylinders heading into a divisional-round clash with the Ravens.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Monday that Allen will start Sunday's matchup versus New England but will be in the game for a "very, very short-lived amount of time," Ryan O'Halloran of The Buffalo News reports. The Bills are locked into the No. 2 seed in the AFC, and the team plans to play only some of its starters, per O'Halloran. The motivation for Allen to see the field at all could be simply to extend his 104-game streak of regular-season starts, in which case the MVP candidate may log no more than a few snaps. It goes without saying that Allen isn't going to be a viable play in fantasy given the extremely limited amount of time he'll likely be on the field in the regular-season finale. Mitchell Trubisky figures to see most of the QB snaps for the Bills against the Patriots.

Allen capitalized on a defensive pass interference penalty in the end zone on Buffalo's opening drive, powering in a one-yard rushing score on the next play. Neither team scored another touchdown until Allen connected with Amari Cooper for a 30-yard touchdown in the third quarter. That touchdown pass brought Allen up to 40 total touchdowns for the fifth consecutive season (27 passing, 12 rushing and one receiving), and he tacked on his 28th passing score with a 14-yarder to Keon Coleman to put the Bills up 33-0 in the final seconds of the third quarter before letting Mitchell Trubisky mop up for the entire fourth quarter. Allen has started 104 consecutive regular-season games for the Bills, so it wouldn't be surprising if he made a brief cameo against the Patriots in Week 18 to extend that streak before the Bills rest him and the rest of the starters in preparation for the playoffs, as Buffalo's locked into the No. 2 seed in the AFC.

After being listed as a full participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, Allen was able to maintain that level of activity in Thursday's session, paving the way for him to start Sunday's game against the Jets. Though the Chiefs have clinched the AFC's No. 1 playoff seed, the Bills can secure the No. 2 seed (and the option to rest starters Week 18) with a win this weekend, Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports.

Allen said during a postgame interview Sunday that his arm, which was bothering him for much of the second half, is fine after he suffered a right elbow contusion in a win over the Patriots, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports. Allen said that the way his elbow got hit caused him to lose feeling in his arm and throwing hand. "Just hit the funny bone nerve and went to throw the ball and just had no feeling in the hand. It took a good five to 10 minutes, so just making sure, trying to get some blood flow back in there, some activation." Allen never missed a play, and even though it may have looked worse than it really was with the quarterback constantly shaking his hand, he seemed to have avoided a serious injury. The bigger question for Allen's fantasy investors the rest of the way might be his usage, as the Bills could be locked into the No. 2 seed in the AFC in fairly short order, leaving them with little to play for against weak opponents in the Jets and Patriots.
Allen (hand) completed 16 of 29 passes for 154 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Patriots. He added six rushes for 30 yards. Allen lacked his typical explosive playmaking ability as he averaged just 5.3 yards per attempt and failed to account for multiple touchdowns in a game for the first time since Week 10. He particularly struggled to make deep connections with his pass catchers, as his longest completion went for only 17 yards -- most of which came after the catch. More concerning for the Bills was that Allen hit his throwing hand on a defender's helmet on a scramble in the third quarter, causing him to get up favoring the injury. He didn't miss a play, but it will be something worth monitoring during the week heading into a Week 17 matchup against the Jets.
Allen wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report ahead of the Bills' matchup with the Patriots on Sunday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Allen felt discomfort in his throwing shoulder during the second half of Sunday's 48-42 win over Detroit, but he never left the game and was still attempting passes with Buffalo nursing a lead in the final minutes. He's in the midst of one of the best stretches of fantasy production ever seen from a quarterback, with at least one rushing touchdown in five consecutive games and multiple touchdown passes in each of the last three. The Patriots are unlikely to keep pace with the Bills in a shootout the way the Rams and Lions did the past two weeks, but Allen is still the top fantasy option at his position even if he's unlikely to approach his enormous volume from the last two games (71 pass attempts, 21 rushes, 854 total yards, 10 total touchdowns).
