The Bills placed Milano (biceps) on the IR-designated to return Tuesday. Milano was diagnosed with torn biceps on August 15, and he will likely miss a majority of the 2024 campaign. Matt Milano Latest News
Placed on IR-R
The Bills placed Milano (biceps) on the IR-designated to return Tuesday. Milano was diagnosed with torn biceps on August 15, and he will likely miss a majority of the 2024 campaign. The veteran linebacker will be eligible to return at some point during the season, but his absence will provide increased snaps for Terrel Bernard, Dorian Williams and Nicholas Morrow.
Diagnosed with torn biceps
Milano has been diagnosed with a torn biceps and will undergo surgery with hope of returning late in the 2024 season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Schefter suggests that returning in December might be a reasonable goal for Milano, whose 2023 campaign ended Week 5 when he suffered a fractured leg. The linebacker worked his way back to full health and had been participating in training camp without limitations, but he's now set to miss a majority of his age-30 season, leaving more LB snaps for Dorian Williams and Nicholas Morrow (groin). Terrel Bernard appears locked in for an every-down role and is Buffalo's best IDP option at the position.
Past leg issue
General manager Brandon Beane told reporters that Milano will participate fully in Wednesday's practice, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Milano fractured his leg during Week 5 of the Bills' 2023 campaign, but it now appears as if he's moved past the issue. The veteran linebacker is an integral part of Buffalo's defense, and he's expected to remain one of the team's top inside linebackers now that he's returned from injury.
Limited at minicamp
Coach Sean McDermott said Milano (leg) will be limited at Tuesday's practice, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports. Milano is working his way back from a right leg fracture, and while McDermott said earlier this offseason that it likely won't be until training camp that he participates in drills, it's encouraging to see the veteran already practicing in a limited capacity. The standout linebacker appears on a good track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 season, barring any setbacks.
Recovering as scheduled
Milano (leg) is "on schedule" in his recovery from a fractured leg, head coach Sean McDermott said Tuesday, Dan Fetes of 13WHAM reports. Milano is still in recovery mode, and he likely won't participate in drills until closer to training camp, McDermott added. However, as long as he stays on schedule, the veteran linebacker should be ready to go when Week 1 of the 2024 campaign begins.
