McKinnley Jackson Latest News
Cleared to make NFL debut
Jackson (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Jackson was activated from injured reserve Friday following full participation at each practice during Week 5 prep. The rookie is cleared to make his NFL debut but will likely serve as a depth piece versus Baltimore.
Activated Friday
Jackson (knee) was activated from injured reserve Friday. Jackson is listed as questionable for Sunday's divisional matchup against the Ravens following a full week of practice. He's not fully past his knee injury just yet, but he will likely serve as one of the Bengals' top reserve interior defensive linemen if he can suit up in Week 5.
Questionable for Sunday
Jackson (knee) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Ravens. The rookie defensive lineman was designated to return from Cincinnati's injured reserve list Wednesday and has practiced in full all week, so it appears likely that his NFL debut could come in Week 5. However, Jackson must be activated to the Bengals' active roster by the time of Sunday's contest to play. If that doesn't happen, expect Lawrence Guy to see increased work on the Bengals' defensive line.
Returns Wednesday
Jackson (knee) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. Jackson returned to practice Wednesday and was able to log a full session, indicating that he could potentially suit up as soon as Week 5. However, the Bengals must activate Jackson to the team's active roster in order for the rookie to play in Sunday's matchup against the Ravens. If Jackson is activated in time for Week 5, expect him to serve as a depth piece on the Bengals' defensive line.
Nearing return
Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters Monday that the Bengals will open Jackson's (knee) 21-day practice window closer to Wednesday, Jay Morrison of SI.com reports. Jackson appears to be nearing a return to the field after sustaining a knee sprain during early August that's kept him out of Cincinnati's first four contests. Once the rookie's practice window opens, the Bengals have 21 days to activate him to their active roster before he reverts back to injured reserve. Expect Jackson to serve as a rotational defensive tackle when he's ready to make his NFL debut.
Goes on IR with knee sprain
The Bengals placed Jackson (knee) on the reserve/injured list Thursday. Jackson has been held out of practice since spraining his right knee in early August. He'll now be held out for the first four regular-season games, and the rookie third-round pick is eligible to return for Week 5 against Baltimore on Oct. 6.
Misses Wednesday's practice
Jackson was held out of Wednesday's camp session due to a right knee sprain, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Jackson told Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer that he's considered day-to-day after Wednesday's practice, but his knee was in a brace and he had crutches next to his locker, which doesn't seem like a good sign. Once Jackson returns to full health, he's expected to continue competing for a depth spot on the Bengals' defensive line.
