Ossai (ankle) agreed to a three-year, $36 million contract with the Jets on Monday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. Ossai has recovered from the ankle injury that sidelined him down the stretch for the Bengals in 2025. He had 5.0 sacks in 14 games prior to the injury, tying his career high from the previous season. Ossai's new deal, which includes $22.5 million in guaranteed money, can become official Wednesday at the start of the new league year. He projects as a starter at defensive end for the Jets at this point, though that could change if the team adds a pass rusher with the second pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Joseph Ossai: Breaking News
Won't return for Week 18
Ossai (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Browns, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. Ossai didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so it's no surprise that he'll miss his third consecutive game due to an ankle injury Sunday. The Texas product appeared in 14 games for the Bengals this season, recording 43 total tackles, including 5.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Expect 2025 first-round pick Shemar Stewart to start opposite Myles Murphy on Cincinnati's defensive line while Ossai is sidelined in Week 18.
Sits out of Wednesday's practice
Ossai (ankle) was listed as a DNP on Wednesday's practice report. An ankle injury has prevented Ossai from playing in each of the Bengals' last two games, and he would likely have to return to practice over the next two days to have a realistic chance of playing against the Browns on Sunday. Cameron Sample and rookie first-rounder Shemar Stewart would continue to see more snaps at defensive end if Ossai cannot play in Week 18.
