Move to IR official
The Vikings placed Reichard (quadricep) on injured reserve Tuesday. Reichard will be sidelined for at least the next four games after straining his right quad in Sunday's 21-13 win over the Colts. The rookie out of Alabama missed his first two kicks of the season in the game, having otherwise knocked down all 14 of his other field-goal attempts and all 23 extra-point tries through his first eight NFL games. The Vikings signed John Parker Romo to the roster to replace Reichard as their kicker beginning with Sunday's game at Jacksonville.
Bound for IR
The Vikings are expected to place Reichard (quadricep) on injured reserve Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Reichard has been diagnosed with a strained right quad, an injury that may have played a part in his two missed field-goal attempts in Sunday's 21-13 win over the Colts. The rookie out of Alabama had otherwise been perfect through the first nine weeks of the season, connecting on each of his other 14 field-goal tries and going 23-for-23 on extra-point attempts. Minnesota will sign John Parker Romo and turn to him as their kicker beginning with Sunday's game in Jacksonville. Reichard will have to miss at least four games once he's formally placed on IR.
Set for MRI on Monday
Reichard (quadriceps) will undergo an MRI on Monday, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Reichard missed a pair of field-goal attempts in Sunday's 21-13 win over the Colts, straining his right quadriceps at some point in the first half. The kicker was already dealing with soreness heading into the game and Monday's MRI will provide more clarity on his status moving forward.
Remains perfect in Week 8 loss
Reichard made both of his field-goal attempts and both PAT tries in Thursday's 30-20 loss to the Rams. Reichard's perfect start to his NFL career continues. The rookie sixth-round draft pick out of Alabama has hit all 14 of his field-goal attempts to go with 20 makes in as many PATs tried. Reichard has hit from as far as 58 yards, but he wasn't challenged Thursday, as his longest kick was in chip-shot range at 35 yards.
Stays busy in loss
Reichard made both extra-point tries and all three field-goal attempts in Sunday's 31-29 loss to the Lions. Reichard remained flawless in Week 7, making field goals from 57, 42 and 48 yards out in the process. The rookie kicker is now 12-for-12 on FGAs and 18-for-18 on PATs this season, including an impressive 4-for-4 on kicks of 50-plus yards. Reichard and the Vikings will travel to Los Angeles next for a Thursday tilt with the Rams.
Strong performance in London
Reichard made both of his extra-point tries and all three field-goal attempts in Sunday's 23-17 win over the Jets. Reichard opened the scoring with a 54-yard field goal on the Vikings' open possession. He then received two more FGA opportunities in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring, making from 53 and then from 41 yards out. The rookie kicker is now 9-for-9 on the season when attempting field goals, including 3-for-3 from 50-plus yards.
Drills five kicks in Week 4
Reichard made his lone field-goal attempt and all four of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 31-29 win over the Packers. The 2024 sixth-round pick remains perfect through the first four games of his NFL career, going 6-for-6 on field-goal attempts and 14-for-14 on point-after tries. Expect Reichard to continue producing at a high level as the Vikings host the Jets in Week 5.
Stays perfect
Reichard both all four extra-point tries and both of his field-goal attempts in Sunday's 34-7 win over the Texans. Reichard has yet to miss during his rookie campaign and added 35 and 58-yard field makes to his resume in Week 3. The rookie is now 5-for-5 on FGAs and 10-for-10 on PATs this season. He and the Vikings will head to Green Bay for Week 4.
Keeps success going
Reichard made both of his extra-point tries and all three field goal attempts in Sunday's 23-17 win over the 49ers. Reichard stayed perfect in Week 2, aiding the Vikings to a second straight victory to start their 2024 campaign. The rookie connected from 22, 39 and 27 yards out for his first NFL field goals, after not having any FGAs in Week 1.
