Addison was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles on Friday night, Luca Evans of the Los Angeles Daily News reports. According to a report from California Highway Patrol, Addison was found asleep behind the wheel of an immobilized vehicle blocking a lane of traffic on the freeway near Los Angeles International Airport at 11:06 p.m. Friday. The 22-year-old was then arrested and released shortly after a DUI investigation Saturday morning. The Vikings released a statement Sunday stating, "We are aware of Addison's arrest this past Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident," according to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com. Last summer, Addison plead guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge after being cited for driving 140 mph in Minnesota. The 2023 first-round played all 17 games during his rookie season, logging 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Arrested on DWI charge
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/minnesota-vikings-logo.png?w=150)
Impresses at spring practices

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said Addison had "as good of an offseason program as really you can ask for," ESPN's Kevin Seifert reports. O'Connell said the wideout is stronger than he was as a rookie, and Addison mentioned that he's working to improve his technique on releases. Addison seems to have enjoyed a healthy offseason program, whereas last year he missed spring practices with an unspecified injury after the Vikings drafted him 23rd overall. He was on pace for 1,000 yards before Week 16 when an ankle sprain slowed him down, and he scored five touchdowns of at least 37 yards (plus a pair of 20-yarders) en route to a 70-911-10 receiving line across 108 targets and 17 games. There should be more target share for the taking with TE T.J. Hockenson (knee) uncertain for the early part of the season and former No. 3 receiver K.J. Osborn leaving in free agency, but there's also potential for QB trouble and reduced overall passing volume with Sam Darnold and/or J.J. McCarthy under center.
Held back by game script

The entirety of Addison's production came in the first half, as the Vikings jumped out to a 24-3 lead and were conservative in the final two quarters. While he was overshadowed by T.J. Hockenson, Addison earned at least seven targets and topped 50 yards for the fourth consecutive game. He's retained volume in two games without Kirk Cousins (Achilles), but the impending return of Justin Jefferson (hamstring) will change the dynamic of the offense.
Touchdown streak ends
![Team logo](https://heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/minnesota-vikings-logo.png?w=150)
Addison struggled to get going with either Joshua Dobbs or Jaren Hall (concussion) under center. He did make timely catches, including a 13-yard catch just before halftime to set up a touchdown for the Vikings as well as a 24-yard reception to get into Falcons territory on the game-winning touchdown drive. Addison's streak of four consecutive contests finding the end zone came to a close, but he'll maintain a significant role in the offense -- particularly as long as Justin Jefferson (hamstring) is sidelined.
Finds end zone again Sunday

The rookie wideout caught a 20-yard strike from Kirk Cousins (Achilles) in the third quarter for the Vikings' final points of the afternoon, extending his TD streak to four games and giving Addison seven touchdowns in his first eight NFL games. Unfortunately for the Vikings' passing game, Cousins' day ended early with what's feared to be a torn Achilles that would cost the QB the rest of the season. If that's the case, Addison will likely be catching passes from fellow rookie Jaren Hall in Week 9 against the Falcons, with veteran backup Nick Mullens (back) not eligible to come off IR until at least Week 10.
