Conspiracy theories surround the sudden August death of Shawn Lucas, who helped serve the Democratic National Committee with a lawsuit alleging fraud in the presidential race.

Lucas, 38, died on August 2, confirmed the Washington D.C. medical examiner, but the circumstances of his death remained foggy for months. He was the latest Washington D.C. man who died young to inspire DNC-related conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theories also surround the July murder of Seth Rich, a DNC data analyst who worked on voting rights issues and who was gunned down in an unsolved slaying on a Washington D.C. street. Rich’s murder remains unsolved.

However, Lucas’ death has now been labeled an accident as a result of a combination of drugs, including kratom.

According to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner of Washington D.C., this is the cause and manner of Shawn Lucas’ death. The office released the information to Heavy on November 1:

Cause: Combined adverse effects of fentanyl, cyclobenzaprine, and mitragynine
Manner: Accident

The office does not release further details under law.

Fentanyl is “a powerful synthetic opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine.”

Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant.

Mitragynine is the main component in the herb Kratom. Forbes says the federal Drug Enforcement Administration is trying to restrict access to kratom, adding that “various forms of kratom and teas made from the plant’s leaves are sold in cafes and on the internet. Their primary effect is to provide a short-lived peaceful and calm feeling that is described as pleasant.”

As for the DNC lawsuit, Lucas was one of several process servers and was captured on video serving the lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed on June 28 by Bernie Sanders supporters against the DNC and then DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who resigned in the wake of the WikiLeaks email scandal.

The lawsuit filed by “a group made up predominantly of Bernie Sanders supporters” alleges Wasserman Schultz “rigged the primary for Hillary Clinton,” says UPI.

The group of 120 people says in the lawsuit “that Wasserman Schultz and the DNC were fraudulent, negligent and misrepresented their true motivations in the Democratic presidential primary,” said UPI, adding that internal email and memos were cited in the lawsuit.

  1. I am not buying this. Hrc had her hand on this just like Assange and his friend and foster and julians lawyer. People die who dare to go against herbwishes

    • The saddest part about this post is that you truly don’t realize what a nutcase you are. Sure. Clinton killed a guy with fentanyl because he served process. You people are lunatics in the most literal sense of the word.

        • Ramoana, the problem is you are just reading social media-linked pseudojournalism that ties a bunch of deaths back to one political figure based on speculative false syllogisms, i.e. “A man opposes Clinton and dies, therefore Clinton is responsible for his death.” That is false logic, through and through. All of your sources of information are likely self-contained and self-reinforcing, meaning the people, especially on social media, who are posting that stuff have no negative blowback if they speculate, post false information or otherwise take actions that would get a vetted, experienced investigative journalist fired. Trust reporters whose jobs are at stake if they speculate and post bogus shit, not a “blogger.” Case in point: the conspiracy theorists often cite Victor Thorn as one of the people in the “Clinton body count.” If you actually look into his death, and his life, via reputable sources *NOT* “blogs” and conspiracy sites, you’ll realize that he published Nazi sympathizer material and probably had dozens of enemies who wanted him gone.

  2. Kratom doesn’t kill anyone. I’ll be really glad when the science comes out that proves this fact. When fentanyl is involved, it is not even necessary to implicate kratom! Did he also have tylenol in his system? What about caffiene? Come on. Kratom is completely unrelated to this just as the other two things I mentioned!

  3. Fentanyl is one of most dangerous drugs in the world. Many people who are dying from over doses are from fentanyl. Mixed with benzodiazepines is almost certainly going to lead to a bad reaction. So when you write he had a combinations of drugs in his system including Kratom it is emphasizing the wrong thing. I am sure he probably had caffeine in his system as well. That should be mentioned if kratom is mentioned.

  4. Kratom is not dangerous like this article implies. I’ve used it for years and never had any issues. When I was on oxy, and other strong opiates, like central, that is when I had issues. I have severe neuropathic pain, and took opiates for a long time. Even a short stint on fentynal. That stuff had me waking us in the middle of the night because I wasn’t breathing. Kratom has not once given me anything close to an experience like that. The guy mixed fentynal and a depressant. I’ve known many who have died for the same combination, and WITHOUT Kratom. His death is tragic, and only highlights the need for a safe alternative to powerful opiates. Kratom is, and has been that alternative for myself, and many others. May he rest in peace.

  5. So, fentanyl killed him. I appreciate the nice little blurb about kratom, but let’s be honest, it had nothing to do with this situation at all. I’m sure he also drank a coffee and ate some food that day too, but those things didn’t kill him either.

Fentanyl is dangerous. End of story.

  6. “Kratom doesn’t kill anyone. I’ll be really glad when the science comes out that proves this fact. When fentanyl is involved, it is not even necessary to implicate kratom! Did he also have tylenol in his system? What about caffiene? Come on. Kratom is completely unrelated to this just as the other two things I mentioned!”

  7. What did he have for breakfast? because that’s about as relevant as the kratom would be, when you have a drug used to tranquilize elephants in your system along with other sedatives, an herb with no recorded deaths in centuries of use is irrelevant. I don’t know if this is just ignorance or bias on the writers part, but as someone with legal personal experience with these chemicals, and a masters degree in English this article is either knowingly written with extreme bias, or an extremely poor job of reporting the facts. Have a little pride in your work and get the facts right. I would be glad to write this article properly for you if you ever want someone who knows how to report the NEWS and not random BS. Have a nice day, and better luck getting it right next time. Shame on the writer and editors

  8. Kratom has never, NEVER killed ANYONE!! For God’s sake, you can’t even overdose on it! This gentleman had fentnyl and benzos in his system and they’re blaming kratom!! Not buying it for a second!!

  9. It’s ridiculous to even include kratom in this, when fentanyl all by itself– let alone combined with a CNS depressant like flexeril– is more than enough to cause an overdose. Kratom does not cause respiratory depression, unlike fentanyl. No one has ever died from ingesting kratom alone. Even including it is like saying this gentleman died of a combination of “fentanyl, flexeril, and coffee”– and then going on to add that he died of a combination of drugs, including coffee.

  10. Kratom has NEVER killed anyone!! For God’s sake, this gentleman had fentnyl AND benzos in his system and they’re blaming kratom! A convenient untruth if you ask me.

  11. Obviously, this poor soul was trying to detox from the opioids he was taking. Now, the DEA wants to ban Kratom. That’s not what killed this man.

  12. Fentanyl is 80x more potent than morphine and 20-50x more potent than heroin. Unless he was weaning, taking Kratom would be like trying to get high off the caffeine in soda while smoking meth.

  13. why is the reporter giving the impression that kratom is responsible for this man’s death? Why elaborate on what kratom is, but not elaborate on what fentanyl and cyclobenzaprine are? Fentanyl and cyclobenaprine combo killed this man.

  14. He didnt have any benzos in his system wtf r u all talking about cyclobenzaprine is a MUSCLE RELAXER generic for flexeril it is not a benzo the evil killary killed him not the drugs and was he prescribed them and why

  15. What a totally irresponsibly worded article. You literally make it sound like kratom was involved in his cause of death. This is RIDICULOUS! And anyone who uses kratom knows this is literally absurd. You might as well say he died from fentanyl and COFFEE. PLEASE do your research and I mean REAL research before spouting off GARBAGE propaganda. PS: fentanyl is DEADLY! Case closed.

  16. Obviously focusing your cause of his death on kratom is absurd and a bit suspicious. As a journalist you are supposed to hold the ddgree to a little higher standard! Fentanyl has been the overwhelming cause of death in thousands of deaths, NOT kratom! You make it perfectly clear what your main agenda is here..and it’s not the loss of another life to a drug more lethal than any opioid or narcotic, but to condemn a safe God-given plant that has never directly caused the death of anyone! Terrible journalism…

  17. The opiate Fentanyl kills thousands of people every month. It is mass-murderer and is 50x more powerful then heroin. It is shameful to see it in the same sentence as a natural herb with centuries of medicinal tradition like kratom. Not one person in history has ever died from kratom. It is a natural life-saver for people that suffer from opiate addiction, as I have seen first hand. SHAMEFUL.

  18. I am so sorry to hear about the untimely death of this man. Not exactly sure why kratom is so emphasized here as a culprit when the poor soul had FENTANYL (!) in his system. Sheesh! Is there a reason why so much attention is paid to kratom while Fentanyl is comparatively glossed over? Maybe this was a mistake, but it was something that stood out to me. Also, it seems like there is some speculation that the death may have been connected to him serving a lawsuit to the DNC. I sincerely hope it was NOT foul play, in which case I am very sorry to hear that yet another person has lost their life to Fentanyl…

  19. So funny. They are killing(!sic) two birds with one stone. So it took so long to come up with this BS story, could have been clear in days, or weeks, but it TOOK MONTHS. So now they would have a better reason to ban Kratom. You want to do something for this country? Regulate sugar consumtion! OFC you won’t do that because fda’s masters, the same that are behind the corrupted warmonger Hillary clinton, won’t alow it. And now white house is controlled by the 1%, FDA is controlled for so long by the 1%, the FED is controlled by the 0,01%, and what makes me so sad is that the one agency that was still showing some intergity, the FBI, did everything in their power to save Hillary from jail time, in spite the fact that ANY other person, with these facts and evidences, would have been in jail in a minute. So sad.

  20. He had Fentanyl and a muscle relaxant in his system and yet you write more about Kratom? You also managed to write the Kratom part with false information and in such a way as to imply recreational use for a pleasant feeling. It is false because that is not the primary effect and it is not “made from the leaves of the plant” it is the leaves of the plant. I have to say that I am impressed and I hope you got a huge payoff to be able to fit such an obnoxious Anti-Kratom slant in such a short paragraph. The fact that you breeze right by Fentanyl and muscle relaxant combo to put such an emphasis on Kratom makes it clear that you were not writing this merely to be factual. A well researched article would have reported how many Fentanyl related deaths let alone Fentanyl with a muscle relaxant deaths are currently a problem.

  21. A well, murdered by big pharma ;) They’re most likely paying killary for something anyway… And, somebody tried to save him with kratom…
Joking (or perhaps not) aside, did anyone know if he was on that deadly cocktail of drugs or was he helped in taking them?

  22. HOW CONVENIENT that this story comes out and puts the spotlight on Kratom rather than Fentanyl when we are in the middle of a huge controversy and backlash from the public, researchers, and most of the media about the DEA overreach in trying to schedule a plant that the science and historical use shows is very safe statistically. If Kratom is banned, we’re going to see a lot more overdoses from Fentanyl, Heroin, and other opiates that cause respiratory depression which is what causes overdoses. This is text book Yellow Journalism.

  23. Not buying it. Why is D.C. examiners doing the autopsy. He lived and worked for Beck & Lee in Miami. He was not a D.C. politician but a lawyer.. Miami Dade are the ones who are suppose to do the Autopsy. Looks like some corruption seized the medical examination for themselves. Just stating the facts. Now to verify this I will post this article to Beck & Lee and they will answer the questions. If this Is propaganda lie? be prepared heavy.com for serious legal recourse.

    • I was just thinking the same thing, wikipedia says he was found dead on the bathroom floor of his girlfriend’s apt. in DC though, so I guess they’d be the ones to examine… Either way, we all know he was murdered and added to the #ClintonBodyCount and this will not stop until she is “brought to heel”. #LockHerUp #DrainTheSwamp #BringBernieBack

  24. Now to verify this I will post this article to Beck & Lee and they will answer the questions. If this Is propaganda lie? B&L may decide to take action. Be prepared heavy.com/ wordpress for serious legal recourse if they choose to do so. Let’s see what they have to say on their FB DNC Fraud lawsuit page?

    • He was not a lawyer. He was a process server. He’s the third party who takes a lawsuit and hands it to the person(s) on whom the suit is to be served. Secondly, he died in DC; accordingly, DC is where his autopsy was conducted as per standard operating procedure. You people are so insanely paranoid and intensely stupid… it’s laughable. A process server has zero to do with the actual substance of the case, and murdering a process server would be the most pointless thing in the world. To what end? He’s already served the lawsuit! His job is over! He has literally zero else to do with the case besides taking papers from point A and bringing them to point B. Christ.

    • Again Mark, you are just repeating misinformation from blogs. CHeck the court papers. He was NOT a lawyer. He was a process server. And I’m willing to bet you would not accept any explanation for his death other than murder, despite a lack of evidence. That’s the problem with the conspiracy theories…. anytime evidence or logic stands in the way, another conspiracy theory can be conjured up to explain away any info that interferes with the original conspiracy theory.

  25. Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant and has synergistic effects on opioids (making the opioid effect stronger). Fentanyl, in the opiate naïve person would cause respiratory depression. Is there evidence of suffocation? Fentanyl by itself is dangerous in a opiate naïve person. As a schedule II, was this a legal prescription he had? From what I read, he would not commit suicide. While it is feasible that he might have had a pain condition, fentanyl would rarely be used without a short acting opiod like morphine or oxycodone, and he would need a serious condition to warrant Fentanyl use. Fentanyl + cyclobenzaprine, without breakthrough pain relief, are combinations that would flag a pharmacist to call the provider. The provider would need to be careful about support for the regimen. Kratom is just diversion. It doesn’t add up. Ironically, where is the lawsuit currently, as it has been proven by WikiLeaks to be true…

  26. Are you kidding me? Kratom shouldn’t even be mentioned, I guarantee you 100% if there was Fentanyl in his system…THAT’S WHAT KILLED HIM. Kratom has enough bad press as is

  27. Still fishy.

    1. Why 3 months for the autopsy results? Looks a bit too long.

    2. Why was he in DC (what a coincidence he died THERE, supposedly at his girlfriends appartment) and allegedly by doing drugs?

Friends say he was not known to do drugs.

    3. He dies just one month after the video. In DC, where he did not live. And where so many Clinton-related “suicides” and killings happened.

    Yeah, of course.

    4. Perhaps they waited for him to come back to DC to teach him a lesson, revenge, scare off others.

    5. “On the same day that Lucas was found dead, August 2, Herries’s boss, Amy Dacey, the DNC CEO, stepped down from her job along with Communications Director Luis Miranda and Chief Financial Officer Brad Marshall. All three had been implicated in the Wikileaks emails.”

    http://wallstreetonparade.com/2016/08/shawn-lucas-cause-of-death-still-unknown-as-clintons-campaign-lawyer-tries-to-move-dnc-lawsuit-into-the-weeds/

Way too many coincidences and way too many dead people in a very short time.

  28. The only thing that can questioned, is why this took as long as it did? The reasons for death described are plausable. What’s implausible is the fact that these conclusions should have been completed 2 months ago. Before his death escaped most media’s attention and peoples memory.

  29. Still fishy.
