At first, Logan Mott and his grandmother, Kristina French, both appeared to be missing, but then Jacksonville authorities made a gruesome discovery: A body believed to be that of French was buried in the backyard of her son’s home.

Now Logan Mott, who is only 15, is considered a person of interest in his grandmother’s death, and authorities were seeking the teenager and labeling him armed and dangerous. He was taken into custody on November 24, possibly while trying to cross the Canadian border.

Mott’s father, Eric, is a veteran Corrections officer in Jacksonville, Florida, who was on vacation when the pair vanished, according to First Coast News. The well-liked French worked with people with autism and special needs and was described as being close to her grandson.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. Logan’s Father Returned Home to Discover His Son & Mother Missing

The bizarre sequence of events unfolded on November 22, after Logan Mott’s father and the father’s girlfriend flew back into Jacksonville and expected to be met at the airport by Eric Mott’s mother and Logan, Jacksonville sheriff’s department director Ron Lendvay said in a press conference. According to Lendvay, when no one was there to pick them up, Eric Mott and his girlfriend called a car service. While unpacking their bags at home, they spotted damage to a safe with firearms missing from it. Both Kristina French and Logan were missing as was French’s 2015 silver Dodge Dart vehicle.

Neptune police said that patrol officers with that department took the first call, which was made at 2:11 p.m. that same day, and was initially a “burglary to a residence and missing person’s case.” Concerning details led them to call the sheriff’s office for further assistance.

At one of the family’s residences, authorities found “evidence of foul play and potential criminal violence inside and then late in the day a potential gravesite outside of the property in the backyard,” said Lendvay. The burial site was excavated and human remains consistent with the description of Kristina French were located, he said, although the medical examiner will not make a positive ID until after an autopsy.

2. Authorities Released a Wanted Poster of Logan Mott & He Was Spotted in Pennsylvania

According to the wanted poster released by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department, Mott was spotted in Pennsylvania. “#LoganMott is wanted for Auto Theft and is a person of interest in the death of #KristinaFrench. 2015 silver Dodge Dart with Florida tag DLLT42. Hair is like picture on left. Armed and dangerous. We believe he is in the NE USA. Seen yesterday in PA. Call 911 if you see him,” the sheriff’s department wrote.

Lendvay said that authorities have “credible evidence to believe Logan Mott is alive” and driving the Dodge Dart, specifically video surveillance footage showing him in the car in southcentral Pennsylvania. “We need to interview him to discuss what happened in the home,” said Lendvay, adding that the public should take “extreme caution” if Mott is spotted. Although Mott is diabetic, authorities believe he has enough insulin to last a week.

Initially, authorities had reported both the grandmother and grandson as missing. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department wrote before French’s body was found: “The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently working an incident with the Neptune Beach Police Department in which two people are missing and may be endangered. Please contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office immediately if you know the location of either individual or have been in contact with either of them over the past three days. Either of them may be travelling in a 2015 Dodge Dart, silver, four door vehicle with Florida tag DLLT42, which is also unaccounted for at this time.”

3. Mott’s Mother Wrote on Facebook That She Loves Him & That Logan & His Grandmother Were Close

When he was first reported missing and before French’s body was found, Mott’s mother, Carrie Campbell-Mott, who lives in Missouri, “issued a plea for his return, telling media outlets he was insulin-dependent and didn’t know whether he had his insulin with him,” CBS News reports. Carrie Campbell-Mott has posted several messages on Facebook about the case.

Here is her full message:

We are mourning Kristina’s loss deeply as a family and desperate to find Logan.

There is a warrant out to find him for taking Kristina’s car. He is listed as a person of interest in her death. He is believed to have taken the firearms from the house and was last seen driving Kristina’s car in Pennsylvania yesterday around 1.

To be clear the police have not accused him of anything.

There are so many things that could have happened. It could have been an accident and he got scared and ran. We have no idea. We do not believe that Logan would ever deliberately hurt Kristina. Please don’t jump to conclusions. We need your love and support more than anything right now.

What we do know is that Logan has never hurt anyone. We know he loved Kristina and they had a very close wonderful relationship. We know Kristina loved Logan deeply. That she is a good person. That she is deeply loved.

So we ask for compassion and empathy while we mourn Kristina and keep in mind Logan is a good kid who has accomplished so much in this life with no history of violence. He is likely scared, alone, and deeply confused. He’s still a child and I ask that everyone keep these things in mind along with the fact that Eric just lost his mother. Please be respectful of our family. Please understand we are still parents who deeply love their child. This is a tragedy.

He is still our child. We love him and no matter what we will stand by him. We will always love him and we will help him thru this.

Logan Mott is you are reading this I love you. I’m here. I love you. Please call me. I will help you. Mom

Photos from her Facebook page indicate that Logan’s mother remarried and has had another child as well. In an earlier Facebook message, she wrote in part, “As a mother the worst situation imaginable is your child going missing. When I got pregnant with Logan we had previously miscarried. It was absolutely devastating losing our first child. It was the only time I saw my husband cry. Kristina came to the hospital and helped me go thru the D and C. She held my hand the whole time. Kristina is one of the best people I have ever known. Kristina loves Logan dearly and Logan loves her just as much. Kristina has a heart of gold and would help anyone. Kristina sees the good in people, the potential in people and she never judges. The best mother and grandmother and overall person anyone could meet. Kristina has the greatest smile and she’s so full of life. We know Kristina would fiercely protect Logan.

When Eric and I got pregnant with Logan we were so scared. We didn’t tell anyone until the end. Logan was born on August 21, 2002. Logan was absolutely perfect. When he was born he didn’t make a sound. Logan just starred straight up at me. Eric and I were worried because he didn’t make much noise. But then we realized that was just him. That’s how Logans always been. Always looking at the world, analyzing it. Logan is smart and strong and he’s so brave. He’s handled his diabetes better than most adults. Logan never victimized it, always forged ahead. Logans got this big heart and he’s incredibly sensitive to those he loves. Logan spent an hour on the phone just last week talking to his cousin Paris as she went thru teenage drama. Logan just called my dad and talked to him last week on his birthday. Logan has so many friends and family that are desperate to hear from him. Logan is loved fiercely. His father and I just want answers. Please. We are begging.

So if you have taken them we are begging you to return Logan and Kristina. We are scared and we just want our son Logan and his grandmother Kristina back. Please. Without insulin he WILL die.

Please. Don’t let my baby die. Please.”

According to News 10, Logan’s mother said he’d been having problems in school. “He has had some problems over the last couple of years. It has just been a tough time for him transitioning from one school now to high school, and he is in the early college program and that’s really intense,” said told the television station.

So…
Jeffrey Dahmer had his mother over for dinner.
In the middle of the meal, she takes his hand, and looking him square in the eye, says “Jeffrey, I don’t like your friends.”
Dahmer replies “Try the potatoes.”

Oh, is that sick little monkey still in the news? Thought we could move on. Very well, I gave it my best college try at distracting you. Ha ha ha ho ho!
