Protesters hit the streets of Hamburg, Germany to protest the G20 summit, and were greeted by water cannons from police. Approximately 10,000 people are at the protest known as “Welcome to Hell” to promote change outside of the summit while 20 of the largest economic powers are inside negotiating international affairs.
Host of the summit, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, special guests include President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
All eyes are on President Donald Trump as he holds a meeting Thursday night with the German chancellor about Germany’s trade and climate change. Trump has been very vocal in his distaste for Germany’s trade practices
But more eyes will be on Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin on Friday, and later the Chinese President.
Trump has also let the public know that he wanted China to be tough on North Korea. But after North Korea announced their missile test on Tuesday the meeting is expected to be sour after China refused to cut energy supplies to North Korea.
Xi and Chancellor Merkel are known to agree on climate change and free trade, and the world is now watching to see if China is ready to take over the United States position as the global economic powerhouse.
