All times Eastern.
The 15 celebrity contestants and their premiere songs and dances are below. We will update with their pro partner as the show airs.
Melanie C. and Gleb Savchenko
Spice Girl Melanie C. is paired with pro dancer Gleb Savchenko. They are dancing the cha cha to “Wannabe” by Spice Girls, which is a spectacular way to debut on the show. Also, it’s clear Melanie has some dancing background, she’s very good for the first week — tight frame, elongated legs, pointed toes, etc. Mel and Gleb earn three 7s and a 6 from Derek Hough for 27 out of 40.
Mike ‘The Miz’ Mizanin and Witney Carson
WWE superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin (“Real World,” “Miz & Mrs.”) is paired with Witney Carson and they are dancing the cha cha to “Butter” by BTS. He is definitely the right kind of personality for this show, even if his dancing is a bit stiff. He’s trying super hard and definitely giving it 110 percent, so good for him. They get 6s across the board for 24 out of 40.
Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach
NBA basketball star Iman Shumpert (“We Got Love Teyana and Iman”) is paired with Daniella Karagach, dancing the jive to “Hey Ya!” by Outkast. The jive is a hard week 1 dance and his enthusiasm was infectious. He did a great job, what a fun dancer. They get a 4 from Len Goodman, 5s from Derek and Bruno Tonioli, and a 7 from Carrie Ann Inaba for a total of 21 out of 40.
Olivia Jade and Val Chmerkovskiy
Influencer Olivia Jade is paired with Val Chmerkovskiy, dancing the salsa to “Juice” by Lizzo. In her intro package, she says she’s “probably best known for being an influencer,” which — no, honey. But she dances well and the judges slather on the praise. She gets three 6s and a 7 from Carrie Ann for a 25 out of 40.
Jimmie Allen and Emma Slater
Country singer Jimmie Allen is paired with Emma Slater. They are dancing the tango to “The Way I Are” by Timbaland ft. Keri Hilson, D.O.E. For his first dance, Jimmie does pretty well. He’s a little loosey-goosey for the tango, but definitely a solid week 1 dance. They earn a 22 out of 40 after two 5s (Len and Bruno) and two 6s (Carrie Ann and Derek).
Melora Hardin and Artem Chigvintsev
TV and film actress Melora Hardin (“The Office”) is paired with Artem Chigvintsev. They are dancing the tango to “Simply Irresistible” by Robert Palmer. It goes… OK. It doesn’t feel like a great showcase for Melora and the costume was not doing her any favors, it kept obscuring her dancing. But the judges go absolutely bonkers for it, so what do I know? They give Melora and Artem two 6s (Len and Bruno) and two 7s (Carrie Ann and Derek) for a 26 out of 40.
Suni Lee and Sasha Farber
Olympic gymnast Suni Lee is paired with Sasha Farber, who was Simone Biles’ partner. They are dancing the jive to “Stay” by The Kid LAROI, Justin Bieber. The jive is a hard week 1 dance, but Suni is so athletic that she completely kills it. They earn four 7s for a 28 out of 40.
Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke
Celebrity fitness guru Cody Rigsby is paired with Cheryl Burke. They are dancing the tango to “Physical” by Dua Lipa. They start Cody off on a stationary bike, which is a bit much, but he is actually a fantastic dancer. The lighting against their bright pink outfits makes them a little hard to see, but overall, they do a great job. They earn four 6s for a 24 out of 40.
Amanda Kloots and Alan Bersten
“The Talk” co-host Amanda Kloots is paired with Alan Bersten, dancing the tango to “Dance Again” by Jennifer Lopez, Pit Bull. You can tell Amanda is a former Radio City Rockette, did you see that fan kick? She’s definitely one to watch to win the whole thing. They earn four 7s for a 28 out of 40, no surprises there.
Martin Kove and Britt Stewart
Actor Martin Kove (“Cobra Kai”) is paired with Britt Stewart, dancing the paso doble to “You’re The Best” by Joe “Bean” Esposito. The paso doble is a really tough week 1 dance, it feels pretty unfair that they gave this to the oldest dancer. But maybe they did that to ensure he goes home? This is hard to watch. He gets the low score of the night (so far) with three 3s and a 4 from Carrie Ann, that’s a 13 out of 40.
Kenya Moore and Brandon Armstrong</h2.
Reality star Kenya Moore (“The Real Housewives of Atlanta”) is paired with Brandon Armstrong. They are dancing the foxtrot to “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat ft. SZA. Their foxtrot is very elegant and smooth, very fluid. They did a great job. The judges agree, they earn two 6s (Len and Derek) and two 7s (Carrie Ann and Bruno) for a 26 out of 40.
Christine Chiu and Pasha Pashkov
Reality star Christine Chiu (“Bling Empire”) is paired with Pasha Pashkov. They are dancing the tango to “Glamorous” by Fergie, Ludacris. She’s so petite that she’s absolutely made for ballroom dancing and they do a really good job. They earn three 6s and a 7 from Len for a 25 out of 40.
Matt James and Lindsay Arnold
Matt James (“The Bachelor”) is paired with Lindsay Arnold and they are dancing the cha cha to “Give It To Me Baby” by Rick James. For not having any dance experience, Matt is actually pretty good. He’s got swag and he’s super smooth and he’s trying really hard, so good for him! They earn straight 6s for a 24 out of 40.
Brian Austin Green and Sharna Burgess
Just FYI, Brian and Sharna have been dating for about 10 months. They were apparently supposed to dance together in season 29 and he had to drop out last minute, so that’s super cute. They are dancing the foxtrot to “Skate” by Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic. Their dance is pretty good — not the best of the night, but solid. They earn straight 6s for a 24 out of 40.
JoJo Siwa and Jenna Johnson
Pop star and dancer JoJo Siwa and partner Jenna Johnson are the first same-sex couple on “Dancing With the Stars.” They are dancing the quickstep to “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?” by Jet. They do a really good job, despite Jenna slipping at one point and JoJo almost dropping her, but JoJo managed to help her stay upright and they earned three 7s and an 8 from Carrie Ann for a 29 out of 40.
“Dancing With the Stars” season 30 premieres Monday, September 20, 2021, at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times on ABC.
