Indianapolis Colts’ safety Joseph Lefeged, 25, was picked up overnight by police in Washington D.C., reports NBC 4.
Here’s what you need to know…
1. Lefeged Was Arrested After a High-Speed Pursuit
Lefeged and a man named Timothy Wilson, 23, fled police after being stopped at a routine traffic checkpoint. D.C. cops gave chase and caught up to the pair at the 4200 block of Blaine Street Northeast at 12:05 a.m. on Saturday June 29.
2. Cops Found a Gun in the Car
Upon further inspection police also found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
3. Lefeged is Facing Multiple Charges
Both men are charged with carrying a firearm without license, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of unregistered ammunition and presence of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
4. The Colts Are Staying Silent
The Colts have made no statement on Lefeged’s arrest. His arrest comes just days after Lefeged’s fellow NFL star, Aaron Hernandez, was charged with the first-degree murder of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd in Massachusetts.
5. Lefeged Has Been With the Colts Since 2011
Lefeged is a native of Gaithersburg, Maryland. He played high-school ball in nearby Germantown before moving on to play for Rutgers. He was drafted as a free-agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2011.
