Alexander (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against Chicago. Alexander played 28 defensive snaps across the Lions' last two games and logged four tackles (one solo) over that span. However, he will observe Sunday's game from the sidelines due to Trevor Nowaske (concussion) returning from a one-game absence. Alexander's next opportunity to play will be Week 17 against the 49ers on Monday, Dec. 30.

Healthy scratch for Week 16
Alexander (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against Chicago. Alexander played 28 defensive snaps across the Lions' last two games and logged four tackles (one solo) over that span. However, he will observe Sunday's game from the sidelines due to Trevor Nowaske (concussion) returning from a one-game absence. Alexander's next opportunity to play will be Week 17 against the 49ers on Monday, Dec. 30.
Joining Lions
Detroit is signing Alexander from Denver's practice squad, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Alexander recorded 145 tackles in 2016 (his second NFL season) and made the Pro Bowl a year later, but he's had a reduced role over the past two campaigns. The veteran linebacker started twice in nine regular-season contests with Pittsburgh in 2023 and recorded 32 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and an interception, and he's bounced between the Broncos' practice squad and active roster this year, tallying eight tackles over three games. Alexander could have an opportunity to see substantial playing time with the Lions, as the team's defense has been decimated by injuries, including to linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, who is done for the campaign after tearing his ACL on Thanksgiving Day.
Finds opportunity
Alexander signed with the Broncos' practice squad Wednesday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Alexander is fully healed from an Achilles injury suffered last season and recently worked out for the Falcons and Vikings. The veteran linebacker played nine regular-season games for the Steelers last season, recording 41 combined tackles, 1.0 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. He'll likely be a candidate to find his way to the 53-man roster once he's up to speed and proves he's in game shape.
Tries out with Minnesota
The Vikings worked out Alexander (Achilles) on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Alexander tried out with the Falcons on Friday, and he'll now look to catch on with the Vikings. The 2015 fourth-round pick had his 2023 campaign cut short by a torn left Achilles he suffered in Week 10 against the Packers, and he finished the regular season with 41 tackles (32 solo), including 1.0 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble across nine games with the Steelers.
Works out with Atlanta
Alexander (Achilles) participated in a workout with the Falcons on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Alexander tore his left Achilles in a game against the Packers last November while he was a member of the Steelers. It appears he's made significant progress toward a return, though he's currently without an NFL team. Alexander recorded 41 tackles (32 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and added an interception and a forced fumble over nine contests with the Steelers last season prior to his injury.
Season over following torn Achilles
The Steelers lost Cole Holcomb (knee) for the season in Week 9 and will now be without Alexander after the latter tore his Achilles in the first quarter of Sunday's game. Given the timing of the injury, it's likely that Alexander will miss the beginning of the 2024 season. He finishes his 2023 season with 41 tackles (32 solo), including one sack, one interception and a forced fumble in eight games.
Won't return Sunday
It's another blow to a Steelers' linebacker corps that lost Cole Holcomb (knee) for the season in Week 9. Mark Robinson will fill in for Alexander for the rest of Sunday's contest.
Leaves game with leg injury
Alexander sustained the injury in the first quarter. The Steelers are thin at linebacker after Cole Holcomb sustained a season-ending knee injury against the Titans in Week 9. Mark Robinson will takeover for Alexander in the meantime.
