Stantley Thomas-Oliver: Breaking News

Let go by Detroit

The Lions released Thomas-Oliver on Sunday. Thomas-Oliver's tenure with Detroit has come to an end after having re-signed with the team in January. He appeared in one regular-season game with the Lions last season but failed to record any stats while playing exclusively on special teams.

Cleared to practice

Thomas-Oliver (undisclosed) passed his physical Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Thomas-Oliver was placed on the active/non-football injury list July 17, but he's now been cleared to return to practice. That's important for the Florida International product, as he's on the roster bubble and will likely need to impress to nab a spot on the team.

Placed on active/NFI list

Thomas-Oliver (undisclosed) was placed on the active/non-football injury list by the Lions on Thursday. Despite the designation, Thomas-Oliver remains eligible to practice and play in the Lions' first preseason game. The cornerback appeared in one regular-season game and in the Lions' only playoff game in 2024, playing on 21 special-teams snaps and one defensive snap. He enters 2025 fighting for a spot.
