Placed on injured list

The Patriots placed Reynolds (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Wednesday. Reynolds will have to miss at least New England's next three games while working his way back to full health, so his next chance to be elevated from the practice squad and contribute won't arrive until the playoffs. He hasn't yet suited up for a game with the Patriots since having joined the team's practice squad in November.

Set to join New England

Reynolds is slated to sign with the Patriots' practice squad Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Reynolds was cut by the Lions on Wednesday after he'd been a healthy scratch in recent weeks. A running back by trade, Reynolds has mostly played on special teams during his seven-year NFL career.

Loses roster spot

Reynolds was waived by the Lions on Wednesday. Reynolds had been a healthy scratch for each of Detroit's last two games. The team shuffled its roster to add needed tight end depth, leaving Reynolds as the odd-man out.
