Frank Ragnow: Everything you need to know

Ragnow closed the door on a potential NFL return Friday, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports. Ragnow attempted to come out of retirement with the Lions last November, but that quest was cut short by a failed physical due to a Grade 3 hamstring strain he'd suffered just days before arriving at the team facility. Ragnow garnered four Pro Bowl selections and three second-team All-Pro honors during a decorated seven-year career.

The Lions placed Ragnow (hamstring) on the reserve/retired list Monday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. Ragnow came out retirement this past Wednesday in an attempt to bolster the Lions' offensive line, but that comeback was short lived after he failed his physical due to a Grade 3 hamstring strain. He has been placed back on the reserve/retired list, and it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will attempt to come out of retirement again going into the 2026 season. Graham Glasgow (knee) will remain as Detroit's starting center while Trystan Colon serves as the backup.

The Lions announced Saturday that Ragnow failed his physical due to a Grade 3 hamstring strain, which will keep the 29-year-old sidelined for the 2025 season. The 2018 first-rounder came out of retirement Wednesday, and despite signs pointing to him being available as soon as Week 15 against the Rams, his physical came back with the diagnosis of a severe hamstring strain. Head coach Dan Campbell relayed to reporters Saturday that Ragnow disclosed to the team that he was dealing with a hamstring injury, but neither party knew its severity until the physical, per Colton Pouncy of The Athletic. With Ragnow out of the picture, Graham Glasgow (knee) will remain as the Lions' starting center while Trystan Colon -- who started against the Packers on Thursday -- serves as the backup.
