Stokes finished the 2024 season with 41 tackles (29 solo) across 17 regular-season games. Selected with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Stokes appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the first time in his career, logging seven starts at cornerback. Stokes battled a laundry list of lower-body injuries during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, missing 22 of a possible 34 contests during that time due to ankle, knee, foot and hamstring issues. The Packers eventually declined Stokes' 2025 option last offseason, and the soon-to-be 26-year-old (in March) is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this spring.
Stokes finished Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles with two tackles (one solo). It was a low tackling output by Stokes, but he did play 65 of the Packers' 76 defensive snaps Friday as the starting corner opposite Jaire Alexander. Stokes has appeared in just 13 regular-season games over the past three years after appearing in 16 contests in his rookie season in 2021. The 25-year-old corner is looking to make an impact in Green Bay's secondary and earn a hefty contract after his fifth-year option was declined in May.
Stokes (hamstring) has been participating in OTAs this week, Zach Kruse of USA Today reports. Injuries have hampered Stokes' last two seasons but the third-year pro is feeling good in preparation for the 2024 campaign. The 25-year-old had the fifth-year option of his rookie option denied earlier in May, but a healthy and successful season could help earn him an extension next offseason.
Stokes (hamstring) will not have his fifth-year option exercised by the Packers, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Stokes had a successful rookie campaign after Green Bay selected him in the first round of the 2021 Draft, but he's had trouble staying on the field since. The Georgia product appeared in just three games in 2023, while suiting up nine times in 2022. If he can remain healthy this season though, he should be able to make an impact in Green Bay's secondary and is expected to start opposite Jaire Alexander at corner.
The move opens a 21-day window during which the Packers can officially activate Stokes before they'd be forced to shut him down for the rest of the season. Green Bay's injury reports this week will provide insight into whether he might be able to play in Week 13 versus the Chiefs.
Stokes played just four snaps on special teams in Week 7 before being ruled out for the remainder of the game with a hamstring injury, which is apparently still bothering him to begin Green Bay's week of practice. He'll probably need to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a chance to play Sunday versus Minnesota.
