Messiah Swinson: Everything you need to know

The Packers signed Swinson to a reserve/future contract Monday. Swinson signed to the Packers' practice squad for the team's wild-card matchup against the Bears after being cut by the Cardinals in late December. The 25-year-old will participate in Green Bay's offseason activities and compete for a spot on the active roster next season.

Swinson signed with the Packers' practice squad Tuesday. Swinson spent last offseason with Green Bay but was cut following the preseason. Since then, he's spent time on the practice squads in San Francisco and Arizona but was cut by the Cardinals last week.

The Cardinals cut Swinson from the practice squad Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. Swinson joined the Cardinals' practice squad Oct. 30, and was not elevated for any games throughout his tenure. The tight end was likely let loose because the team was able to poach Rivaldo Fairweather from the Cowboys' practice squad. If Swinson clears waivers, he will become a free agent able to sign with any team.
