The Lions signed Fromm to a reserve/future contract Monday. Fromm spent his 2024 campaign with the Lions' practice squad after failing to make the active roster in late August, and he's expected to remain in Detroit after inking a reserve/future deal with the team Monday. The Georgia product's most recent in-game NFL action came in 2021 with the Giants, throwing for 210 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions over three contests. He's expected to compete for a depth role in Detroit's QB room as the offseason progresses.
Fromm signed with the Lions' practice squad Wednesday. Fromm failed to make Detroit's initial 53-man roster Tuesday, but he's now been brought back as a practice squad player. The Georgia product last saw regular-season action in 2021 with the Giants, when he threw for 210 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions across three games.
Detroit waived Fromm on Tuesday. Fromm was a fifth-round draft pick by Buffalo in 2020 and got into three regular-season games with the Giants in 2021. He hasn't logged an NFL snap since then, however, and spent most of the previous two campaigns on Washington's practice squad. Fromm never had much of a chance of landing on Detroit's 53-man roster and played sparingly in the preseason, though he did well by completing six of eight pass attempts for 89 yards.
Fromm signed with the Lions on Monday. Fromm will head to Detroit after spending last season on Washington's practice squad. The 2020 fifth-round pick will now compete for the team's backup quarterback spot alongside Nate Sudfeld and Hendon Hooker (concussion).
The Commanders released Fromm on Tuesday. Fromm spent the entire 2023 season on Washington's practice squad, but he'll now need to search for a chance to compete elsewhere. The 2020 fifth-round pick hasn't played snaps on an NFL field since 2021.
