Cleveland released Jefferson on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Jefferson had been on the sidelines for the Browns' last four games, and now he's bound for free agency. In five games this season, he's recorded six tackles (one solo) including 1.0 sacks.
Jefferson (groin) has been an active participant at training camp with the Browns, Scott Petrak of Browns Zone reports. Jefferson signed with Cleveland in the offseason after ending the 2023 season with the Jets by undergoing surgery to repair two ruptures of his groin. The defensive lineman is competing with the likes of Michael Hall and Siaki Ika for a spot on the active roster in 2024.
