Dye played in all 17 regular-season games in 2024 and finished with 57 tackles (34 solo), including 1.5 sacks. Dye signed a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the Chargers in March of 2024 after spending the first four years of his NFL career with the Vikings. He was utilized mainly on special teams over the first half of the year, but he started to see a noticeable increase in defensive snaps in Week 9 against the Browns and was listed as a starter in five of the Chargers' final seven games of the regular season. Dye ended up finishing with career highs in combined tackles, solo tackles and sacks, and as an unrestricted free agent, he should get plenty of interest from linebacker-needy teams during the offseason.
Dye recorded five tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 40-7 win at New England. Dye's involvement in the defense has steadily increased as the season has progressed, and he saw a season-high snap share in Week 17. However, he could see his workload cut back in Week 18 at Las Vegas if Denzel Perryman (groin) ends up being available.
Dye registered nine tackles (five solo), including 1.0 sacks, during the Chargers' 40-17 loss to the Buccaneers this past Sunday. Dye and Elijah Molden finished Sunday's game as the second-leading tacklers for the Chargers behind Daiyan Henley (10). Dye was responsible for the Bolts' lone sack as he got to Baker Mayfield for a five-yard loss late in the second quarter. Dye has seen a noticeable increase in defensive snaps over his last five games, and over that span he has logged 36 tackles (18 solo), including 1.0 sacks.
Dye recorded six tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Chiefs. At the same time, Dye only played on 51 percent of the defensive snaps with Junior Colson (ankle) back in the lineup. Starter Denzel Perryman (groin) and Colson missed the Chargers' Week 13 win over the Falcons, opening the door for Dye to play on 77 percent of the defensive snaps and to make 14 tackles (six solo), both season highs. Perryman has missed the last three games with the groin injury, so if he sits out again next week against the Buccaneers, Dye should be in line to continue his expanded role.
Dye recorded 14 total tackles (seven solo) and a pass defensed in Sunday's 17-13 win over the Falcons. Dye played a season-high 77 percent of the team's defensive snaps with Denzel Perryman (groin) unavailable, leading to a season high in tackles. Nick Niemann saw the majority of the workload in Perryman's place in Week 12, but that flipped to Dye in Week 13. If Perryman remains out in Week 14 versus Kansas City, expect Dye to get the starter's workload again on Sunday Night Football.
The Chargers signed Dye (wrist) to a one-year deal Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Dye has found a new home in Los Angeles after spending the first four years of his NFL career in Minnesota. According to Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Vikings offered Dye more money than the Chargers, but Los Angeles sold the 27-year-old linebacker on "the chance to start." Dye has been a core special teamer for the Vikings over the past four seasons, recording 80 total tackles in 60 games, and he'll have the opportunity to compete for a large role with the Chargers this offseason.
