Teair Tart: Everything you need to know

Tart and the Chargers agreed to a three-year, $37.5 million extension Monday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Tart is poised to stay with the Chargers through the 2028 campaign. He had been scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason after playing on a one-year, $5.5 million contract in 2025. The nearly 29-year-old defensive lineman played in all 17 regular-season games, totaling 32 tackles (22 solo) before adding 1.0 sacks among his four tackles (three solo) in the Chargers' playoff loss.

Tart (groin) is active for Saturday's matchup against the Texans. The 28-year-old logged consecutive limited sessions to the end the Chargers' week of practice and is now ready to play in Saturday's contest. Tart is an important part of Los Angeles' defensive front, recording 28 total tackles, three passes defensed and one forced fumble over 15 appearances this season. He's expected to operate as the team's top nose tackle during the Week 17 matchup.

Tart (groin) is officially listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Texans. Tart missed practice Tuesday before upgrading to limited reps Wednesday, and he was also listed as a limited participant on Thursday's estimated report. Official word on Tart's status will arrive no later than 90 minutes prior to Saturday's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
