Will Dissly: Breaking News

Let go by Chargers

The Chargers released Dissly with a failed physical designation Wednesday. Over his two seasons (playoffs included) with the Chargers, Dissly -- who turns 30 in July -- appeared in 26 games (including 11 starts), while combining for 63 receptions for 594 yards and two touchdowns in that span. After catching 50 passes during the 2024 regular season, Dissly, who is evidently dealing with an unspecified injury -- logged just 11 catches in nine outings in 2025, a trend that corresponded with rookie Oronde Gadsden establishing himself as Los Angles' top pass-catching tight end.

Falls out of rotation

Dissly did not record a target in the 16-3 wild-card loss to the Patriots on Sunday. Dissly played 60 offensive snaps through the first two weeks of the 2025 campaign, but after a knee injury kept him out Weeks 3-5, the veteran was largely phased out of the gameplan (98 offensive snaps total Weeks 6-17), even becoming a healthy inactive near the end of October. As a result, Dissly, who would save the team $3 million in cap space if released by June, will likely be a cap casualty this offseason as the Chargers look to retool their TE depth behind emerging fifth-round rookie Oronde Gadsden.

Two catches vs. Houston

Dissly caught both of his targets for 19 yards during the Chargers' 20-16 loss to the Texans on Saturday. Dissly wasn't too far behind fellow tight end Oronde Gadsden (3-32-1 on six targets) despite the former playing just seven of 63 offensive snaps (11.1 percent) during Saturday's loss, which clinched the AFC West division for the Broncos. Dissly's role against Denver in Week 18 could be expanded if the Chargers opt to sit their starters.
