Latest Magic News
Gary Harris : Won’t play vs. Brooklyn
Harris (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Nets. Harris will miss a third straight game with a left hamstring injury and doesn't have a clear timetable for his return. His next chance to suit up will come against the Knicks on Tuesday.
Jett Howard : Mutes role continues
Howard provided eight points (3-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two rebounds and one steal over 16 minutes during Friday's 123-100 win over the Nets. Howard continues to play a limited role off the bench, having exceeded 20 minutes only once this season. Although he is supposedly one of the better perimeter threats on this Magic roster, they are doing just fine with him playing a minimal role. At this point, it appears he will struggle to feature prominently as long as the roster is relatively healthy.
Goga Bitadze : Blocks five shots in win
Bitadze supplied eight points (2-6 FG, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists, five blocks and one steal across 27 minutes during Friday's 123-100 victory over the Nets. Bitadze continues to start despite the return of Wendell Carter, blocking a season-high five shots. Although his offense is somewhat sporadic, Bitadze has been a relatively consistent source of rebounds and defensive stats since moving into the starting lineup. Over the past month, he has averaged 9.4 points and 7.8 rebounds to go with 2.8 combined steals and blocks. Given the recent success. there is no reason to think he will shift to the bench anytime soon.
Franz Wagner : Elite production continues
Wagner ended with 29 points (12-20 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, eight assists, one block and two steals across 35 minutes during Friday's 123-100 victory over the Nets. Wagner continues to play the best basketball of his young career, leading the Magic to their 11th win in the past 12 games. With Paolo Banchero continuing to miss time due to an oblique injury, Wagner has put the team on his back. Over the past month, he is averaging 24.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.9 steals and 2.1 three-pointers in 33.5 minutes per game. Until Banchero is ready to go, Wagner should continue to serve as the primary option, a role he has seemingly embraced.
Gary Harris : Won’t play Friday
Harris (hamstring) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Nets. Harris will miss a second straight game after sustaining a left hamstring injury during the first quarter of last Monday's game against the Hornets. His next chance to suit up will come Sunday during a rematch against Brooklyn.
Goga Bitadze : Fills stat sheet Wednesday
Bitadze provided 11 points (4-4 FG, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals over 25 minutes during Wednesday's 133-119 victory over the Bulls. Bitadze was perfect from the floor and only missed one of his four attempts from the charity stripe in what was a strong showing for the six-year veteran. Bitadze has five double-doubles this season, and he's averaging 9.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 blocks per game since being promoted to a starting role on Nov. 4.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope : Scores season-high 24 points
Caldwell-Pope closed Wednesday's 133-119 victory over Chicago with 24 points (8-13 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, two assists and four steals across 34 minutes. Caldwell-Pope delivered his best performance of the season Wednesday -- and by a wide margin. The veteran has had significant shooting struggles all season long, but he surpassed the 10-point mark for the first time since Nov. 6 with an efficient display that included a season-high six threes made. The Magic could use Caldwell-Pope's shooting prowess from the backcourt, though. The veteran is shooting a mere 37.1 percent from the field, including 26.7 percent from three-point range, this season.
Jalen Suggs : Scores career-high 31 points
Suggs had 31 points (10-18 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 7-7 FT), three rebounds and seven assists across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 133-119 victory over the Bulls. Suggs came through for the Magic in a game where the team needed him the most, and the 23-year-old guard responded by delivering the best scoring output of his career. Suggs has surpassed the 20-point plateau in just five games this season, so fantasy managers would like to see him score more consistently, especially since Paolo Banchero (oblique) remains sidelined. Still, Suggs is averaging 15.1 points per game in 14 appearances since the beginning of November.
