The Denver Broncos‘ incoming draft class is set following the conclusion of the 2024 NFL draft.

Denver took Oregon star Bo Nix in the first round with the No. 12 overall pick. Nix was the sixth quarterback taken as part of a historic run of 14 straight offensive players to kick off the draft’s first round.

The Broncos did not have a second-round pick, yet made a legacy pick in the next round. Denver took Utah EDGE Jonah Elliss, son of 10-year NFL veteran Luther Elliss at No. 76 overall. The elder Elliss played with the Broncos during the 2004 season.

Nix reunited with Ducks teammate Troy Franklin with the second pick of the fourth round. Denver traded with the Seattle Seahawks to move up from the No. 121 pick to snag the Oregon wideout.

The Broncos also made a blockbuster trade on Day 3 for New York Jets defensive end John Franklin-Myers in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Franklin-Myers agreed to a two-year $15 million contract, including $10 million guaranteed.

Seven draft picks were available to head coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton. Here is the full 2024 Broncos draft class:

Bo Nix Sends Message to Critics During Introductory Press Conference

Excitement is prevalent throughout the Mile High City with the selection of Nix. With a depth chart consisting of Jarrett Stidham, Ben DiNucci and Zach Wilson, Broncos Country will likely take any upgrade under center.

The Oregon quarterback has a tough task ahead as he attempts to bring the Broncos back to relevance. Nix delivered a message to critics that emphatically questioned his arm strength entering the pros.

His response to those who said he only completed checkdowns and screens: “I completed a lot of long [passes], too.”

“I don’t mind when people go back and watch the film,” Nix said during his April 26 introductory press conference. “They can see everything they need to watch. That’s here and gone.”

Nix expressed his excitement about joining Payton and the Broncos. He declared Denver the “perfect spot” and “can’t wait” to work with his new teammates.

Broncos Made NFL History With Troy Franklin Pick

The Broncos’ selection of Franklin reunited him with Nix and also made NFL history in the process.

According to CBS Sports, the selection marked just the third time in the common draft era that a team selected a quarterback and wide receiver from the same school.

The first occurrence came in 1979 when the Kansas City Chiefs took Clemson quarterback Steve Fuller and wide receiver Stan Rome. In the 2019 draft, the Washington Commanders drafted Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins and WR Terry McLaurin.

Franklin was the Ducks’ leading receiver during his final season in Eugene. The fourth-round selection set single-season Oregon records in receiving yards (1,383) and touchdown catches (14).

Payton is putting his fingerprints all over the offense and the goal is for Franklin and Nix to maintain their chemistry in Denver.
