The Internet is abuzz with predictions regarding how the jury’s verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman. Zimmerman is accused of murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin after an incident in February 2012 that left the teen shot and dead. Zimmerman and his defense attorneys have developed a case over the last few weeks claiming that he was acting in self defense.
So what will the verdict be?
On April 5, 2012, Gallup released a poll regarding the particulars of the case. On the question “Is George Zimmerman guilty of a crime?” 15 percent of all adults surveyed said yes, verses 21 percent probably guilty, 7 percent definitely not guilty, and 52 percent unclear or no opinion.
After the impassioned closing arguments made by the prosecution, people actively tweeting about the verdict are leaning toward guilty. However, most tweeters are predicting the jury will find Zimmerman guilty of manslaughter rather than the charge of second-degree murder.
