Cleveland Police confirmed at an afternoon press conference that Facebook killer Steve “Stevie” Stephens committed suicide in Erie, Pennsylvania after a short police pursuit April 18.
Authorities updated the situation at the briefing and said that Pennsylvania State Police received a tip from someone who noticed Stephens’ white Ford Fusion in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in Erie.
According to GoErie.com, authorities followed up on the tip around 11 a.m. and located the vehicle, which fled from the restaurant and led police on a short pursuit.
Witness accounts say that police rammed the back of Stephens’ car and spun it out, bringing it to a stop across from the former Burton Elementary School near Buffalo Road and Downing Avenue around 11:10 a.m. Police blocked off the school grounds and the surrounding area as a result.

There was a nationwide manhunt for Stephens, who shot and killed 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr. on Easter Sunday, recording and publishing a video of the murder to Facebook. Cleveland Police had joined forces with many federal agencies as they looked for Stephens and his Fusion within a five-state radius.
Stephens also posted several videos to Facebook prior to the murder of Godwin that showed him saying he was upset at his girlfriend, Joy Lane, and was going to go on a killing spree because of his depression. He initially claimed to have murdered 13 people before Godwin, though those claims were proven false.
After a day went by and there was no sign of Stephens, those agencies offered up to $50,000 for information leading to Stephens’ location.
