Davis was signed to the Bengals' practice squad Wednesday. Davis was waived by the team on Tuesday, ultimately returning to the Cincinnati's practice unit one day later. The defensive lineman failed to appear in a game during the preseason while dealing with an undisclosed injury and he'll look to impress with the practice squad in order to potentially get an elevation to the active roster down the road.
Head coach Zac Taylor told reporters Thursday that Davis is considered week-to-week with an undisclosed injury, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. It's not clear what is ailing Davis, but the 28-year-old defensive tackle is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Buccaneers. It could also keep him from playing against the Bears on Aug. 17, which would significantly decrease Davis' chance at making the Bengals' 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.
