Nate Herbig: Breaking News
Retires from NFL
The Commanders placed Herbig on the reserve/retired list Tuesday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports. Herbig ended last season on IR due to a torn rotator cuff but appeared healthy and ready to contribute as a reserve interior offensive lineman for Washington, but he'll instead hang up the cleats. The 27-year-old started 30 of his 61 career appearances in the NFL.
Lands with Washington
The Commanders signed Herbig on Friday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Herbig has returned to health after a torn rotator cuff forced him to miss all of Pittsburgh's 2024 season, and he now joins Washington as a veteran option at guard. He'll assist the interior of the Commanders' offensive line in keeping Jayden Daniels, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, upright during the upcoming season.
