Aaron Shampklin: Breaking News

Cut by Miami

The Dolphins cut Shampklin on Monday, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Shampklin signed with the Dolphins earlier this month but was mere backfield depth, as Miami navigated injuries to De'Von Achane (calf) and Jaylen Wright (leg) to close out the preseason. Shampklin rushed six times for 46 yards and caught two passes for 18 yards during the preseason.

Makes deal with Miami

The Dolphins signed Shampklin on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Shampklin made three regular-season appearances with Pittsburgh in 2024, recording six carries for 17 yards over 27 offensive snaps. After getting waived by the Steelers back in May, Shampklin worked out with a few different teams before finally finding a fit with Miami. The placement of Alexander Mattison (neck) on injured reserve Monday left the Dolphins without any proven options at tailback behind De'Von Achane, leading to Shampklin's signing.

Out in Pittsburgh

Shampklin was waived by the Steelers on Monday. Shampklin spent the majority of his 2024 campaign on the Steelers' practice squad an inked a reserve/future deal with the team in mid-January. However, it now appears Pittsburgh has decided to part ways with the 25-year-old running back. The Harvard product appeared in three regular-season games for the Steelers in 2024, logging six carries for 17 yards in addition to 101 kick-return yards. Now a free agent, Shampklin will look to find work with a team in need of running-back depth.
