Cephus reverted to Jacksonville's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Cephus was elevated for the first time this season for Sunday's matchup against Tennessee and logged six offensive snaps without getting any targets or touches. The 23-year-old could be elevated twice more this year before the Jaguars would need to sign him to their active roster in order to have him available for game day.
The Jaguars elevated Cephus from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. Cephus was unable to make the Jags' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he opted to stick around on the practice squad. The 23-year-old wideout is in line to make his NFL regular-season debut Sunday against the Titans if he's active for the game.
The Jaguars signed Cephus to their practice squad Wednesday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. The Jaguars left Cephus off their initial 53-man roster after he signed with the team in April as an undrafted free agent, but he's now set to join the practice squad. During Cephus' final season at UTSA, the 23-year-old racked up 89 receptions for 1,151 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, earning first-team All-American Athletic Conference honors.
Cephus was waived by the Jaguars on Tuesday. Cephus joined Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent after a successful and record-breaking senior season at UTSA, which saw him earn All-American Athletic Conference honors. The 23-year-old could be a practice squad candidate if he doesn't find any opportunities elsewhere.
