Etienne has agreed to terms Monday on a contract with the Saints, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Etienne becomes the clear No. 1 option in a New Orleans backfield that also houses incumbents Alvin Kamara (knee), Kendre Miller (ACL), Devin Neal (hamstring) and Audric Estime. The Louisiana native surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in three of the last four seasons as the leader of Jacksonville's rushing attack, and his combination of speed and three-down skills project as an ideal fit for Saints head coach Kellen Moore's offensive scheme. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Etienne's contract is a four-year, $52 million deal, a commitment that signals he likely will be utilized in a similar workhorse role to the one he attained down the stretch of his tenure with the Jaguars.

Travis Etienne: Breaking News
Hits paydirt in wild-card loss
Etienne carried the ball 10 times for 67 yards and caught all five of his targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' 27-24 loss to the Bills in the wild-card round Sunday. The 26-year-old back capped his first playoff appearance since 2022 with a 14-yard TD catch from Trevor Lawrence in the fourth quarter that briefly gave Jacksonville a 24-20 lead, but which left over four minutes on the clock for Josh Allen to answer back. Etienne heads into potential free agency this offseason having produced 1,399 scrimmage yards and a career-high 13 TDs (seven rushing, six receiving) over 17 regular-season games, and he could draw significant interest from teams in need of backfield help if the Jags elect to let him walk away.
Quiet close to regular season
Etienne rushed the ball 14 times for 32 yards in Sunday's 41-7 win over the Titans. He added one reception on one target for six yards. Etienne had a very strong regular season, though Sunday served as a disappointing close. He logged a long rush of 11 yards, but eight of his 14 attempts on the ground picked up two or fewer yards. Etienne was also limited to only one target for just the third time this season and ultimately ended up with limited volume after being pulled early in the fourth quarter. If there was a positive point to note, he was able to surpass 1,100 rushing yards for the first time since 2022, his second season as a pro. Etienne should be in line for a bounce-back effort in the wild-card round, though it is still undetermined who the Jaguars will face.
