Reed signed a reserve/future contract with the Bears on Monday, Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports. Reed signed with Chicago as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky, but he was unable to earn a spot on the team's 53-man roster. Instead, he spent the past season on their practice squad. He'll now have another chance to earn a spot with Chicago again in 2025.
The Bears signed Reed to the practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Reed was unable to beat out Tyson Bagent for the backup quarterback job behind Caleb Williams. However, Reed will stick around on the practice squad and will serve as the emergency quarterback unless Chicago picks up another signal caller before Week 1 against Tennessee.
The Bears waived Reed on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Reed signed with the Bears in April as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky. He was competing against Tyson Bagent during offseason workouts and training camp for the backup quarterback job behind 2024 first overall pick Caleb Williams. Across three preseason outings, Reed completed 12 of 16 pass attempts for 123 yards and one touchdown. He could elect to stick around on Chicago's practice squad, assuming he clears waivers.
