The Bears placed Scales (back) on the reserve/injured list Thursday, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports. The veteran long snapper sustained a back injury in early August, which kept him out of the Bears' last three preseason games. He'll be forced to sit for a minimum of four games, making Week 5 against the Panthers on Oct. 6 the earliest he can return.
