Doubtful for Week 16
Homer (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Lions. Homer was injured in Friday's practice, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He wasn't on the injury report Wednesday or Thursday before getting in a limited session Friday. Roschon Johnson is back from his concussion this week and will help spell D'Andre Swift in the backfield. Homer's likely absence will mostly be felt on special teams.
Light workload in loss
Homer rushed three times for six yards in the Bears' 30-12 loss to the Vikings on Monday. Homer served as Chicago's No. 2 running back for the second-consecutive game while Roschon Johnson recovers from a concussion. With three touches in each of those games as the backup to D'Andre Swift, Homer will have limited fantasy value as long as he retains his current role.
Active for MNF
Homer (head) is active for Monday night's game against the Vikings. D'Andre Swift (groin) is active, and Darrynton Evans was elevated from the practice squad ahead of Monday night's game. With Roschon Johnson (concussion) inactive, Homer should still mainly be used on special teams after he played just seven offensive snaps last week in San Francisco in the same scenario.
Available to play Sunday
Homer (head) is available and will suit up for Monday's game against the Vikings. Considering that D'Andre Swift (groin) is questionable for Monday and Roschon Johnson (concussion) is out, Homer could be in line for a bigger role out of the Bears' backfield. The six-year veteran has appeared in nine games this season, tallying three carries for 16 yards and three catches (on three targets) for 11 yards.
Full again Friday
Homer (head) practiced fully again Friday. D'Andre Swift (groin) and Roschon Johnson (groin) have missed practice each of the last two days, leaving Homer as the lone healthy running back on the Bears' active roster. Royce Freeman and Darrynton Evans would be candidates to be elevated from the practice squad for Monday night's game against the Vikings if Swift and/or Johnson can't play.
Practices in full Thursday
Homer (head) is listed as a full participant in Thursday's walkthrough practice. Homer was forced off the field during Sunday's loss to the 49ers due to a head injury, but it appears he's now fully recovered. With D'Andre Swift (groin) and Roschon Johnson (concussion) both listed as non-participants Thursday, Homer's availability as a backfield depth option may be key heading into Monday's divisional road matchup against the Vikings.
Exits game due to head injury
Homer (head) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the 49ers, Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network reports. Homer suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game, and up to that point he had caught all three of his targets for 11 yards. He entered the game as the Bears' No. 2 running back behind D'Andre Swift due to Roschon Johnson (concussion) being inactive. While Homer is sidelined, Darrynton Evans will have the opportunity to serve as the backup running back behind Swift.
Could step up with other RBs hurt
Homer could take on a larger role Sunday against the 49ers, as D'Andre Swift (quad) is listed as questionable while Roschon Johnson (concussion) has been ruled out. Even if Swift suits up, Homer would be in line to step into a larger change-of-pace role, though the Bears could also call up Darrynton Evans from the practice squad. Most of Homer's usage will likely come in passing situations, as his career rushing (469) and receiving yards (464) totals are nearly identical.
Will return from four-game absence
Homer (finger) is active for Sunday's game against the Commanders. Homer missed the Bears' last four games after undergoing surgery on his finger. He ended the week with consecutive full practices and was activated off injured reserve ahead of Sunday's contest. With Khalil Herbert (coach's decision) a healthy scratch, Homer will serve as the Bears' No. 3 running back behind D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson.
