Smith-Wade appeared to have lost his starting spot on Carolina's defense after playing strictly on special teams in the Panthers' two games prior to Week 13. However, the rookie cornerback from Washington State played 47 defensive snaps and delivered the best performance of his pro career in Sunday's loss, picking off Baker Mayfield in the second quarter and tying Jordan Fuller for the second-most tackles on the Panthers' defense. The 22-year-old is likely to retain his role as a starter after Sunday's performance, serving as the the team's top slot cornerback.
Woods recorded seven total tackles (five solo) and one interception in Sunday's 26-23 overtime loss to the Buccaneers. Woods played 100 percent of the Panthers' defensive snaps for 10th time this season, intercepting Baker Mayfield in the third quarter of Sunday's loss, which set up a 22-yard field goal from Eddy Pineiro. The 29-year-old has stepped up across the Panthers' last three games, recording 23 total tackles and three passes defended, including two interceptions, during that span. He's expected to continue making plays for what appears to be an improving Panthers defense in Week 14, when the team travels to Philadelphia.

For the second consecutive week, Jewell got after the quarterback and led the Panthers in total tackles. The 30-year-old linebacker has been a significant part of Carolina's defensive improvements over their last three games, recording 25 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, and defending two passes, with one interception. Jewell has also played 100 percent of the Panthers' defensive snaps in three consecutive contests, solidifying his status as a viable IDP choice as the season progresses.
Coach Dave Canales said Monday that the hope is Sanders (neck) will be able to return next Sunday against the Eagles, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Sanders injured his neck in Week 12 against the Chiefs and didn't practice last week before missing this past Sunday's loss to the Bucs. With Sanders out versus Tampa Bay, Tremble played 100 percent of the offensive snaps for the first time in his career and set career highs across the board in targets (eight), catches (five) and yards (77).

Coker didn't practice at all last week and has missed the Panthers' last two contests, losses to the Chiefs and Bucs. In his absence, Carolina has gotten back Adam Thielen (hamstring) from injured reserve and rolled with a three-wide set of Thielen, Xavier Legette and veteran David Moore. With Moore producing, it's unclear if Coker would return to a full-time role once healthy.
Pineiro converted on three of his five field-goal attempts while making both of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 26-23 overtime loss to the Buccaneers. Pineiro hadn't missed a kick since the Panthers' Week 5 loss to the Bears before missing field goals of 38 and 45 yards in the first half of Sunday's overtime loss. The third-year Panther has now converted on 86.4 percent of his field-goal attempts (19 of 22) this season while remaining perfect on point-after tries (20 of 20). He'll look to bounce back from a poor Week 13 performance next Sunday when the Eagles host the Panthers.
