Clowney (ankle) was a full participant in Friday's practice. After logging a DNP on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, it appears Clowney has moved past the issue. The veteran edge rusher logged just one total tackle in the Panthers' regular-season opener, but he'll look to rebound against the Chargers in Week 2.

Jadeveon Clowney Latest News
Full-go Friday
Clowney (ankle) was a full participant in Friday's practice. After logging a DNP on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, it appears Clowney has moved past the issue. The veteran edge rusher logged just one total tackle in the Panthers' regular-season opener, but he'll look to rebound against the Chargers in Week 2.
Upgrades to limited practice
Clowney (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday. Clowney wasn't able to practice Wednesday, so it's encouraging to see him upgrade his activity level. He played 60 percent of defensive snaps during Carolina's loss to the Saints in Week 1 and figures to handle a similar starting role if cleared to suit up Sunday versus the Chargers.
Dealing with ankle injury
Clowney didn't practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury. It's unclear exactly when Clowney sustained this ankle injury, as he played 41 defensive snaps during the Panthers' Week 1 loss, but it could be concerning that Carolina held him out of practice Wednesday. Clowney's practice participation Thursday and Friday will provide a better indication of whether the edge rusher will be able to suit up in Week 2.
Gets over illness
Clowney (illness) wasn't on the Panthers' injury report Wednesday ahead of Sunday's Week 1 game against the Saints. Clowney missed practice earlier in the week due to an illness, but he appears to have recorvered in time for Carolina's Week 1 contest. The 2014 first-overall pick inked a two-year, $20 million deal with the Panthers this past offseason after recording 9.5 sacks across 17 regular-season games with the Ravens in 2023. He's expected to start as the Panthers' top edge rusher heading into 2024.
Misses Monday's practice
Clowney (illness) wasn't participating in Monday's practice, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports. Despite Clowney missing Monday's practice due to an illness, he's expected to be ready for the Panthers' Week 1 contest against the Saints on Sep. 8. If the 2014 first-overall pick is held out of more practices this week, expect K'Lavon Chaisson to work as one of Carolina's first-team edge rushers.
Fortifies Carolina's pass rush
Clowney has agreed to terms with the Panthers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Per Rapoport, Clowney's deal with Carolina is for two years and $20 million, with a maximum value of $24 million. During his lone campaign with the Ravens, Clowney finished the 2023 regular season with 43 tackles and 9.5 sacks over the course 17 games. By adding the top pick in the 2014 NFL Draft to the defensive mix, the Panthers will bolster a pass rushing unit that's looking to make up for the recent trade of Brian Burns to the Giants.
Comes up big in revenge game
Clowney made a big impact against his former team in Week 10, racking up multiple sacks in a single game for the second time this year. He's on pace for one of the most productive seasons of his career at age 30, and he should get plenty of opportunities to rush the passer versus the high-flying Bengals in Week 11.
