Johnson was not targeted in the Bears' 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday. Johnson ended the season as the No. 4 receiver on the Chicago depth chart, but it only resulted in one catch for six yards on two targets. After Johnson posted 272 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie with the Jaguars in 2020, he became less productive each season. Over the last two seasons, the veteran has two catches for 17 yards. Johnson is set to hit unrestricted free agency.
Johnson failed to corral his lone target in the Bears' 34-17 loss to the Lions on Sunday. This was the fourth straight game in which Johnson has seen snaps on offense. In those games, the receiver has one catch for six yards on two targets, and unless his role changes, he won't be a reliable fantasy option.
Johnson played five of the Bears' 53 snaps on offense and finished with a six-yard reception on his lone target in Sunday's 38-13 loss to the 49ers. Johnson's reception -- his first of the season -- came on the Bears' final drive of the game, when interim head coach Thomas had already subbed out most of Chicago's key players amid the blowout. The 27-year-old remains buried on the depth chart at receiver and will likely play most of his snaps on special teams while Chicago has DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze available.
Chicago signed Johnson from its practice squad to the 53-man roster Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. Johnson hasn't suited up with the main unit since Week 3 at Indianapolis, but he's now getting a full-time promotion from the practice squad ahead of Week 12. It would probably take an injury to one of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen or Rome Odunze for another Bears wideout to garner much fantasy relevance this season.
Johnson reverted to Chicago's practice squad Monday. In his second game this season, Johnson managed to record an assisted tackle while covering a kickoff and also saw two snaps on offense. He could be elevated again next week if Keenan Allen (heel) remains sidelined.
The Bears elevated Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network reports. Johnson was elevated for the Bears' Week 2 loss to the Texans, during which he played seven snaps (one on offense, six on special teams). If he's active for Sunday's game against the Colts, Johnson will likely be limited primarily to special teams even with veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen (heel) ruled out for a second straight week.
Johnson reverted to Chicago's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Johnson played just one offensive snap during Sunday's 19-13 loss at Houston. His prospects of suiting up again in Week 3 might hinge on whether or not Keenan Allen (heel) is available.
The Bears elevated Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. Both Keenan Allen (heel) and Rome Odunze (knee) are listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans. If one or both of them are unable to suit up for that contest, then Johnson could be active for Week 2 and serve in a depth role at wide receiver.
Chicago signed Johnson to the practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Johnson started the preseason strong with three catches for 53 yards and two touchdowns in the Hall of Fame Game against the Texans on Aug. 1. He didn't end up playing in the following three preseason contests, and the 2020 fifth-round pick was unable to crack the Bears' 53-man roster. Johnson should be looked at for a promotion to the active roster should any of Chicago's wide receiver corps miss time.
