Mixon rushed 14 times for 57 yards and caught one of two targets for 14 yards in Saturday's 27-19 loss to the Chiefs. Kansas City came into Saturday's game having allowed the fewest rushing yards in the NFL to running backs, so Mixon's modest stat line isn't particularly surprising. This game continued an alarming trend, as Mixon has posted 71 total yards or fewer without a touchdown in three of his last four games. Prior to this downturn, he had at least 90 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in seven of eight appearances. Getting back on track won't be easy for the workhorse running back on Christmas against Baltimore's stout run defense.

Joe Mixon Latest News
Late-season fade continues
Cleared for Saturday's game
Mixon (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Saturday's game at Kansas City. The Texans listed Mixon as a limited practice participant Tuesday through Thursday, following his brief exit from a 20-12 win over Miami on Sunday. He returned to the game and finished with 17 touches for 56 yards, playing 64 percent of snaps on offense after four straight games at 75 percent or higher. Mixon will face a tough defense Saturday and comes with slightly more workload/injury risk than usual, but he nonetheless profiles as a strong fantasy starter, averaging 107.9 total yards and 1.1 TDs in 11 games this year.
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Mixon was a limited participant at practice Wednesday due to ankle injury. Mixon, who was also deemed limited Tuesday, suffered a minor ankle injury in this past Sunday's win over the Dolphins, but the running back said Wednesday that he anticipates playing Saturday against the Chiefs, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. Thursday's injury report will clarify whether or not Mixon heads into the weekend with an injury designation, but at this stage, he looks like he'll be ready to handle his usual role Saturday as Houston's lead back.
Checks out fine Monday
Mixon suffered a minor ankle injury during Sunday's 20-12 win over the Dolphins but Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said the running back checked out fine upon being evaluated Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The injury occurred during the second quarter, but Mixon was able to finish the game, although his 32 snaps were the fewest since he returned from an earlier ankle injury Week 6. The Texans feel Miami's Jordyn Brooks should have been flagged for an illegal hip-drop tackle, which is similar to the one that resulted in Mixon getting injured in Week 2 against the Bears. Officials did not flag the defender for a penalty on either play; however, Chicago's T.J. Edwards was fined for the tackle under a new NFL rule outlawing a tackling technique that has caused a high frequency of injuries. Mixon's status should be monitored during the preparation week leading into Saturday's game at Kansas City.
Held in check during win
Mixon rushed 12 times for 23 yards and brought in five of six targets for 33 yards in the Texans' 20-12 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. Mixon was held to his second-lowest rushing yardage total of the season -- both of which have come in the last three games -- but was at least partly able to make up for the downturn with solid output in the passing game. He appeared to get shaken up on a first-half play but never missed any time, and he was able to tie a season high in receptions with his work as a receiver. Mixon next takes aim at the Chiefs' solid defense in a Week 16 Saturday afternoon road battle.
Compiles 119 total yards in win
Mixon rushed 20 times for 101 yards and a touchdown and brought in four of six targets for 18 yards in the Texans' 23-20 win over the Jaguars on Sunday. Mixon managed to get over the 100-yard mark on the ground for the seventh time this season on his final carry of the day coming out of the two-minute warning, an eight-yard run that fittingly sealed the hard-fought win for Houston. The veteran back managed his 11th rushing touchdown of the campaign on a seven-yard run just before the halfway point of the third quarter, and he tied his second-highest reception total of the season as well. Mixon will head into a Week 14 bye just 113 rushing yards short of his fifth career 1,000-yard campaign, a milestone he'll look to hit at the expense of the Dolphins in a Week 15 home matchup on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Shut down by Tennessee
Mixon rushed the ball 14 times for 22 yards in Sunday's loss to the Titans. He added five receptions on six targets for 23 yards. Mixon was coming off a dominant performance Monday against the Cowboys, though he struggled to get going in Sunday's loss. His longest gain went for just eight yards, and 11 of his 14 carries went for two yards or fewer. Mixon managed to salvage his performance in PPR formats with a season-best five receptions, though it was still his lowest yardage total of the season.
Bounces back with three-TD night
Mixon rushed 20 times for 109 yards and three touchdowns and secured two of four targets for 44 yards in the Texans' 34-10 win over the Cowboys on Monday night. A week after being bottled up by a talented Lions defense, Mixon was right back to dominating the opposition with a stellar effort on the ground. Mixon struck early, rattling off a 45-yard touchdown run to cap off the opening drive of the game and subsequently recording a one-yard scoring rush late in the first quarter. The prolific back would replicate the latter feat with 3:16 remaining to close out the scoring on the night, recording a new single-game-high TD total in the process. Mixon also curiously posted his second straight two-catch, 44-yard showing, affording him plenty of momentum ahead of a Week 12 home date with the division rival Titans.
Bottled up after early TD
Mixon rushed the ball 25 times for 46 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Lions. He added two receptions on four targets for 44 yards. The Lions have boasted one of the better run defenses for much of the season, and the unit largely limited Mixon on the ground Sunday. The exception came on Houston's first offensive possession, which he capped with an eight-yard touchdown run. Mixon's notable production otherwise came as a pass catcher, when he ripped off a 36-yard catch-and-run late in the first quarter. While he was bottled up thereafter, Mixon has found the end zone in all but one game this season and has been among the most reliable producers at the position.
