Comes off PUP list
The Texans activated Phillips (shoulder) off the active/PUP list Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Phillips passed his physical and is back at practice for Houston. He projects to reprise a depth role at linebacker while contributing on special teams during the 2024 campaign.
Starting camp on PUP
The Texans placed Phillips (shoulder) on the active/PUP list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The 27-year-old played in all 17 regular-season games for Baltimore last season, but he missed both playoff contests with a shoulder injury that is apparently still not 100 percent. Phillips signed a one-year deal with Houston in the offseason and will serve as defensive depth while filling a key role on special teams.
Finds new home
Phillips is set to sign a one-year contract with the Texans, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Phillips has spent the past two seasons in Baltimore, mostly contributing in a special teams role. He'll likely be competing for a similar role in Houston, while likely serving as a depth option in their linebacker corps.
