Jared Wayne: Everything you need to know

Wayne signed a reserve/future contract with the Texans on Tuesday. Wayne spent most of the 2025 season on the Texans' practice squad and was elevated for Week 8 against the 49ers, when he played 35 offensive snaps and caught both of his targets for 20 yards. He'll be on Houston's 90-man roster when the offseason commences Feb. 9, which allows him to participate in OTAs and minicamp and make a good impression on the coaching staff before the start of training camp in July.

The Texans reverted Wayne to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Wayne was elevated for the first time this season ahead of Sunday's Week 8 matchup against San Francisco, as both Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) were unable to suit up. Wayne ended up logging 35 of the Texans' 80 offensive snaps (third-most among Houston's wideout corps) and caught both of his targets for 20 yards. Wayne's likelihood of being elevated again for Week 9 versus Denver could depend on whether Collins and/or Kirk is able to return to action.

Wayne caught both of his targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 26-15 win over the 49ers in Week 8. Wayne was elevated from the practice squad due to both Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) being unavailable. Wayne played 35 snaps, third-most among the wideouts, and recorded the first two receptions of his career after seeing action in three regular-season games and one playoff game last season for Houston. He can be elevated two more times while Collins and Kirk work their way back to the roster.
