Powell (hip) is out for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. Powell will miss a second straight game with a right hip strain Wednesday. If Dereck Lively (ankle) joins him on the shelf against Minnesota, Daniel Gafford should dominate the center minutes for the Mavericks while Maxi Kleber likely operates as Dallas' top backup big man off the bench.

Latest Mavericks News
Dwight Powell : Out against Minnesota
Powell (hip) is out for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. Powell will miss a second straight game with a right hip strain Wednesday. If Dereck Lively (ankle) joins him on the shelf against Minnesota, Daniel Gafford should dominate the center minutes for the Mavericks while Maxi Kleber likely operates as Dallas' top backup big man off the bench.
Jaden Hardy : Ruled out Wednesday
Hardy (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. Hardy will miss his second straight game Wednesday as he deals with an ankle sprain. The 22-year-old guard is averaging 8.1 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game this season, shooting 42.7 percent from the floor and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.
Naji Marshall : Iffy with illness
Marshall (illness) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. Marshall is dealing with an illness, so the Mavericks will likely see how he's feeling closer to Wednesday's tipoff before determining his game status. With Klay Thompson (ankle) and Quentin Grimes (back) also uncertain to play against Minnesota, Dallas could be forced to turn to Spencer Dinwiddie and Olivier-Maxence Prosper for a heavy dose of playing time.
Quentin Grimes : Questionable against Minnesota
Grimes (back) has been listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. After missing Monday's game against the Hornets, Grimes could miss Wednesday's matchup against Minnesota as he deals with back spasms. If the 24-year-old can't play against the Timberwolves, Naji Marshall and Spencer Dinwiddie could see more time on the floor, especially with Jaden Hardy (ankle) already ruled out for this game.
Dereck Lively : Iffy against Minnesota
Lively (ankle) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Timberwolves. Lively is in danger of missing his fourth straight contest Wednesday due to a right ankle sprain. Daniel Gafford will likely continue to receive increased playing time if Lively is ruled out yet again.
Klay Thompson : Iffy for Wednesday
Thompson (ankle) has been listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. Thompson has only missed five games with the Mavericks this season but could be trending toward missing Wednesday's matchup against Minnesota. If the four-time NBA champion can't play against the Timberwolves, P.J. Washington, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper could see more time on the floor for Dallas.
P.J. Washington : Nears double-double in loss
Washington amassed 13 points (5-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, one assist and one steal in 30 minutes during Monday's 110-105 loss to the Hornets. Washington provided Dallas with a balanced effort in Monday's contest, ending second on the team in rebounds and as one of three Mavericks with double-digit points while finishing one board shy of a double-double. Washington has now tallied at least 10 points and nine rebounds in 12 outings this season, including in two of his last three appearances.
Daniel Gafford : Season-best outing in double-double
Gafford recorded 31 points (12-15 FG, 7-7 FT), 15 rebounds, three assists, six blocks and one steal over 34 minutes during Monday's 110-105 loss to the Hornets. Gafford dominated Monday's contest, putting forth his best outing of the season while leading all players in rebounds and blocks and finishing as one of two Mavericks with 30 or more points in a double-double performance. Gafford set season-high marks in scoring, rebounds and blocks while surpassing the 30-point mark for the first time. He has now recorded a double-double on four occasions, doing so in two of his last three contests.
